STATE OF AFFAIRS | Cadbury Mothers Day Round a time to celebrate Mums
Where would football clubs be without the volunteers and in particular the mums?
Round five of the 2011 Wrest Point State League
will be sponsored by Cadbury to celebrate the
role that mothers play in football. The Cadbury
Mothers’ Day round will include three matches,
with special events organised throughout the
league.
Cadbury chocolates will be given out to all mothers
attending the matches, to be played on Saturday,
May 7 between:
Hobart vs Devonport at TCA – 1.10pm
Burnie vs North L’ton at West Park – 2.00pm
Glenorchy vs North Hobart at KGV – 6.00pm
“Volunteers in football clubs are invaluable, and
on Mothers’ Day we are proud to recognise, in
conjunction with our Major Partner Cadbury, their
dedication, commitment and value to football in
Tasmania, and to their local clubs and families,”
Wrest Point State League General Manager,
Shaun Young, said.
A ‘Mum in the Stand’, also known as “Fan in
the Stand’, will be announced at the Glenorchy
vs North Hobart game, with the winner being
the person with a lucky number printed on their
Football Record. To be announced at half-time in
the match, the lucky fan will receive a $100 Loft
dining voucher, and a bottle of Jansz champagne.
At the matches at West Park and the TCA, a raffle
will be held to win mum a spectacular Cadbury
gift basket, with proceeds going to the Cancer
Council’s Pink Ribbon Day Appeal. A raffle will also
be held at the KGV ground in Glenorchy.
Cancer Council Tasmania is the Wrest Point
State League’s preferred charity for 2011 and
AFL Tasmania will donate $25 to Cancer Council
Tasmania’s Pink Ribbon Day Appeal for every goal
kicked in the Hobart vs Devonport game at the
TCA ground this weekend.
“Cancer Council Tasmania is fortunate to have the
support of organisation such as AFL Tasmania,”
Cancer Council CEO, Darren Carr said. “Cancer
Council Tasmania encourages all Tasmanians to
take their mothers to enjoy the Cadbury Mothers’
Day Round.”
So please take the time this week to thank not
only your mum, but all the mums who help at your
football club. We appreciate their time and effort
and are very lucky to have such a hard working
and dedicated group of volunteers.
We wish all our mums a happy Mother’s Day!
