Chapter 5: Provide Drill-through Access This chapter describes how to set up drill-through access from a PowerPlay application to other reports and queries in • PowerPlay • Cognos Query • Impromptu Web Reports • Impromptu • Cognos ReportNet or Cognos 8 General Drill Through Considerations You can set up and enable drill-through access to cubes or reports from PowerPlay applications, queries from Cognos Query, reports from Impromptu Web Reports, reports from Impromptu, or reports from Cognos ReportNet or Cognos 8, as depicted in the following table. For example, a report might show revenue for all countries, but a drill-through cube shows revenue only for Mexico. The current measure and dimension line of a report are applied to drill-through cubes and queries. Measures and dimensions that aren't included in a drill-through cube or query can't be applied. For example, a report is filtered for one product line. If the drill-through cube doesn't have a Product Line dimension, the filter can't be applied. The drill-through cube shows data for all product lines. You must be consistent when naming measures and dimensions. For example, the dimension Product Line in one report is not recognized as the same dimension as Prod Line in another report. Enterprise Server Guide 61
