DEMOLItion<br />
Standards<br />
(Required by <strong>City</strong> Code)<br />
1. Demolition of buildings with historic<br />
character shall be discouraged,<br />
except as may be considered by the<br />
planning commission by the<br />
issuance of a conditional use permit<br />
with the advice of the historic<br />
preservation commission. The<br />
demolition will not commence until<br />
sixty (60) days after the action of the<br />
Planning Commission to permit<br />
historic documentation. Time limit<br />
may be reduced by approval from<br />
the Community Development<br />
Director.<br />
2. Prior to demolition, all buildings with<br />
historic character shall be<br />
documented, including taking<br />
pictures to be maintained by the<br />
<strong>Pleasant</strong> <strong>Grove</strong> <strong>City</strong> Historical<br />
Commission. Documenting of<br />
buildings listed on state and national<br />
historic registries shall follow the<br />
guidelines designated by those<br />
entities.<br />

(Recommendations)<br />
1. The following criteria should be<br />
considered and addressed prior to<br />
the issuance of a downtown building<br />
demolition permit:<br />
a. Physical integrity<br />
b. Context<br />
c. Adverse effect<br />
d. Economic hardship<br />
e. Zoning incompatibility<br />
f. Reuse compatibility<br />
g. Benign neglect<br />
h. Social and historic significance<br />
