14. Site Access and<br />
Frontage<br />
Standards<br />
(Required by <strong>City</strong> Code)<br />
1. Building Frontage: All buildings<br />
shall front on a street or plaza area.<br />
(Section 10-11G-5C)<br />
2. Commercial Space: Any<br />
development in the downtown<br />
mixed use overlay zone shall locate<br />
commercial space immediately<br />
fronting on a collector or arterial<br />
street. (Section 10-11G-5D)<br />
3. Residential Units: All residential<br />
units shall be accessible from the<br />
ground floor of the building facade<br />
fronting on the street or plaza.<br />
Building entries and lobbies<br />
(including those for residential<br />
units) shall be oriented to and shall<br />
be accessible from a street or<br />
plaza. (Section 10-11G-5C)<br />
<strong>Guidelines</strong><br />
(Recommendations)<br />
1. New buildings in the downtown area<br />
should be oriented at a 90 degree<br />
angle from the street (except along<br />
State Street), and in-line with<br />
adjacent historic buildings.<br />
