loose remake of the 1955 comedy that stared

story about two escaped convicts who descend
upon a small village and are mistakenly
welcomed as Important holy men Demi
Moore has the female lead, Neil lordan
("Mona Lisa," "High Spirits") directs from a
script by David Mamet ("The Untouchables"),

hasn't used a fairy tale for the source for one
of Its animated features since "Sleeping Beauty"

1959. But that changes with this musical
fantasy about a mermaid who makes a tragic
deal with an evil sea witch so that the mermaid
can be with the human with whom she

comedy with his segment of "New York Stones,"
Woody Allen keeps things In a light vein

with the likes of Alan Alda, Daryl Hannah,
Martin Landau, Tony Roberts and Sam VValerston.
