Legislative Day:
Legislative committee did an
excellent job lobbying the congress
and helped in halting the Medicare
cuts. This year the Legislative
Conference will be held on April
28th, 2009 at Washington D.C.
Dinner/Reception is scheduled on
April 27th.
Annual Convention:
The 27th Annual AAPI Convention
will be held at the Walt Disney
World Dolphin Hotel and
Convention Center from Wednesday
through Sunday, June 10-14, 2009.
The Convention Committee is
working very diligently. Exhibition
booth registration is online.
Member registration will go live in
first week of March.
IT Committee:
When I took over as President,
AAPI website was optimally
functional, very poorly designed and
was not serving the membership or
the organization in a desirable
manner, and it needed to be
revamped. Redesigning the entire
website and starting from scratch is
one of the high priority tasks for me.
I had several teleconferences with
our IT Chair Dr. Anil Gupta and
discussed the needs and advantages
to build a new site rather than
spending time to fix the current one
which, according to the IT engineers,
may never provide functionalities we
desire and expect for the AAPI
website because of the poor design
inherent in the current website.
We purchased a 80 Gigabyte
Dedicated Server for AAPI. Phase I
& II of the project is completed and
the new website is projected to be
unveiled in 1st week of April 2009.
All the subchapters are invited to
use our server for free. In the new
website, we are planning to put easy
links to subchapters of AAPI.
With the development of new
website, an important thing I am
very interested in is to explore the
possibilities of developing industry
partnerships for mutual benefits such
as working with Electronic Medical
Record (EMR) companies.
AAPI Journal:
AAPI Publications Committee did
a fabulous job in bringing the AAPI
Journal on time. The Journal was
sent out to 14,000 members in
December 2008. To make the
Journal self-sufficient, Journal
Resource Committee did a
tremendous job in raising funds
through advertisements.
Finances:
Financially, AAPI is stable and
strong. Weekly teleconferences with
our Treasurer Dr. Narendra Kumar
are being scheduled and the
finances are being monitored very
closely. We are following all the
guidelines and paying bills very
promptly. Checks above $2,000 are
being signed by the Treasurer and
me. We filed all the relevant tax
returns as of June 2008.
AAPI Office:
Rama, Sam & Vijaya have been
managing the AAPI Office very well.
Search for an Executive Director is on.

Governing Body Meeting April 10 –
12, 2009 at Boston, MA and the
annual convention at Orlando, FL
from June 10-14, 2009.
