Homestead Rebate Replaced<br />
Is now FAIR Property Tax Relief<br />
Program for Homeowners<br />
Last year the rebate checks got bigger. You won’t find your rebate<br />
application in the State Income tax book. The Homestead Rebate and<br />
NJ SAVER Rebate applications are being combined into one FAIR<br />
Rebate application! Now all eligible homeowners file one application -<br />
everyone receives one check.<br />

Who is eligible for a FAIR rebate:<br />
Residents who owned, occupied, and paid property taxes on a home in<br />
New Jersey that was their principal residence on October 1, 2004 and<br />
whose gross income was $200,000- or less.<br />
How to apply:<br />
Fair rebate applications will be mailed after the end <strong>of</strong> income tax filing<br />
season in April to real estate owners. You will need the following information<br />
to complete the application<br />
♦ Social Security numbers)<br />
♦ Birth years)<br />
♦ Filing Status shown on 2004 NJ-1040<br />
♦ Your 2004 New Jersey Gross Income amount<br />
from your NJ-1040.<br />

For Tenants<br />
If you were a tenant on October 1, 2004 and meet the eligibility requirements,<br />
simply file Form TR-1040 in the NJ Resident Tax Return<br />
Booklet.<br />
You can bring in your forms in to the <strong>of</strong>fice if you<br />
need assistance claiming your benefits.<br />
TRANSPORTATION<br />
The Office on Aging will arrange<br />
TWO free rides per<br />
month for seniors to<br />
local doctor’s <strong>of</strong>fice visits<br />
free <strong>of</strong> charge via Kelly’s<br />
cab. Our coverage area<br />
is <strong>South</strong> <strong>River</strong>, East Brunswick, Milltown,<br />
Old Bridge and Parlin. We<br />
DO NOT provide transportation<br />
to hospitals. You must call the Office<br />
on Aging at least two days prior<br />
to your appointment date.<br />
