The <strong>Housing</strong> <strong>Strategy</strong> Manager now engages with<br />
developers and negotiates affordable housing on S106<br />
sites. In 2003 the <strong>Council</strong> was achieving approximately<br />
20% affordable on S106 sites compared to 2008 where<br />
40% has been achieved. Over the period 04/05 to 08/09,<br />
contributions were secured for over 1200 affordable<br />
homes on site, together with some discount market<br />
housing and financial contributions for affordable housing.<br />
The <strong>Housing</strong> and Planning Services have jointly prepared<br />
a “Guide to Affordable <strong>Housing</strong>” in the district to assist<br />
delivery of affordable housing.<br />
Successes<br />
The district council worked with Midland Rural <strong>Housing</strong> to<br />
establish the Trent Valley Partnership making a £30,000<br />
contribution to fund a post over a 3-year period to assess<br />
rural housing needs across the district. Rural Parish Local<br />
<strong>Housing</strong> Needs Research across 44 rural parishes was<br />
completed in 2008.<br />
Members selected East Midlands <strong>Housing</strong> Association in<br />
June 2004. In 2008 this partnership was reviewed with the<br />
primary aim of increasing capacity. This resulted in the reselection<br />
of East Midlands <strong>Housing</strong> Association along with<br />
Nottingham Community <strong>Housing</strong> Association.<br />

Planning Policy, Development Control and <strong>Housing</strong><br />
