Samuel Goldwyn Visits
Boston for 'Andersen'
BOSTON—While Samuel Goldwyn, producer
of "Hans Christian Andersen." was in
town for a two-day advance on the film, a
busy schedule was set up for him. He and
Mrs. Goldwyn, with Frank Loesser, who wrote
the music for the film, and Mrs. Loesser were
rushed around town for interviews on the
radio and TV networks and two large parties
were given for them. The first was a press
luncheon at the Ritz Carlton hotel December
1, where managing and city editors, editorial
writers and columnists and motion picture
personnel met him.
The second was a screening of "Hans
Christian Andersen" and a luncheon on the
following day where Governor Dever. Governor-elect
Herter, Mayor Hynes, presidents o;
publishing houses, colleges and civic and business
enterprises and directors of art circles
were introduced to him. Despite his busy
schedule, Goldwyn took time out to visit Dan
Finn, managing director of the Astor, where
the film will open on Christmas day.

An inexpensive stunt which aroused widespread
interest on "Invitation" was used bj
George Forhan sr., manager of the Belli
Theatre, Belleville, Ont. Forhan imprintec'
invitation cards with a recommendation foi
the picture. He then promoted a quantity o:
four-inch Unen bags which he filled will"
sawdust, and an invitation was enclosed li
each. In exchange for a few passes, the bags,
were delivered to homes in the area by miUj
route men making their early rounds.
The motion picture attendance in Sweder
so far this year has been lower than in 1951
