The whole nation is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary
the cyclonic Yogi of India, in 1893 in
Chicago's World Parliament of Religion, ?le mto /417442
one of the eminent professors of Harvard
University (Prof.John Wright) observed -
"Here is a person who is more learned
than all the learned Professors of Harvard
q4z4*z
University, put together."
Swami Vivekananda wanted to project the real worth and
significance of India in an emphatic manner in Western
countries and he achieved success in his mission. Being an
impartial appreciator of the good qualities of all countries and
communities irrespective of their race or religion, Swamiji
desired to promote the science and technology advanced in
the Western country in his own motherland, India along with
its spiritual development. He wanted the youth of his country
not to cry but to roar like lions on the surface of the earth.
That's why he gave a clarion call - "give me few men and
women, who are young, honest, pure and perfect ; I can shake
this entire world." His mission was to eradicate the poverty
and starvation through dedicated human service ; to create
an atmosphere of mutual fellow-feeling and co-existence
through the promotion of Vedanta Philosophy, that preached
the existence of god-hood in each and every pafticle of the
Universe and beyond and to build India as a spiritual master
and most advanced nation by synthesizing the spiritualism
with science and technology. To him, science and spirituality
are the two facets of the same coin. lf science is a flower,
spiritualism is its fragrance. His vision was to stand on the
strong foundation of the east, look at the west and get the
best. This is one of the causes for which he descended on
the earth and tried to translate this ideas in to reality by
undertaking so many service-oriented activities.
Swami Vivekananda wanted everybody to be good and to
do good to others. For Ccing this noble work, one requires the
positivisation of the mindset and Swamiji always advised the
youth to get themselves dissociated from the negative
thoughts. Negative thoughts like lust, greed, anger, arrogance,
jealousy and hypocrisy, narrowmindness etc. are the real
obstacles in the path of progress of both an individual and
nation. Once the internal divine power gets manifested, all
the negative qualities will disappear and the positive properties
will take their place. Hence Swamiji observed that the main
function of education is to ensure the manifestation of the
divine qualities present within the man. He thought that youth
power is nation's power. In fact, the development of a nation
depends upon the proper channelization of youth power.
Swami Vivekananda linked this proper channelization with
the scriptural injunctions. Our ancient Indian scriptures (in
Sanskrit) are united in emphasising one cardinal component
of life i.e. truth ; that requires to be professed by one and all for
the development of complete personality.
The main purpose of the celebration of the 150th birth
anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is to initiate the youth of
this country with the philosophy and ideology of Swamiji ; so
that they can rise to the occasion to serve the mankind with
greater commitments. We have prepared
a pledge containing ten points to be
administered to one and all, particularly
to the youth, for motivating them to
rededicate themselves to the cause of
their motherland. The organization of
seventh edition of All India Sanskrit
Students'Talent Festival (AISST) in our
University on this occasion of the
celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji with a new
flavor and renewed vigour is a right pointer in this regard.
Festival has been organized, talents have been show-cased
; ideas have been exchanged ; atmosphere has been
Be good and do good to others. Service to mankind is service to God. C[:r{+E[ q[ry+{f. Let us dedicate ourselves to the
service of the poor, downtrodden, under privileged and weaker section of the society.
Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man. Let us do sadhana to get our internal divine qualities manifested through
our education in the greater interest of our country-men and democracy.
We want that education by which the strength of character is brought out ; the courage of a lion is generated ; spirit of philanthropy
is intensified and by which one can stand on his own legs. Let us have confidence in ourselves and generate jobs for us and our
fellow-travellers by acquiring the real education and skills.
You are the makers of your own destiny. You can do anything and evefihing since a divine power is within you. If the environment
is not conducive tor achieving the goal, change it by applying your uncommon power and immeasurable strength. Let us take an oath
to bring a radical change in the system and positivise the entire atmosphere because we are destined to be the agents of change.
There is no space for corruption in our system since corruption is canc€r. Honesty and infegrity gives us etemal bliss and evedasting
happiness. Honesty ensures peace, progress and prosperity in our country. Let us pledge to abolish corruption and d€velop zero
descended on the earth on several occasions. Let us do our duties perfectly to the satisfaction of one and all.
Religious intolerance and regional Jingoism in the era of globalization are the real enemies in the path of our progress and prosperity.
The Vidyapeetha's NSS programmes are aimed at channelizing the energies of the
students towards selfless service. The Vidyapeetha has five NSS units, four for boys
and one unit for girls. The NSS programmes for February 2013 commenced with enrolment
of students of Vidyapeetha. The following programmes were organised by all as volunteers.
The Vidyapeetha NSS units aspire to change the lives of many by their contributions to
the society,
NSS PROGRAMMES - SPECIAL CAMPS
All the units of the NSS of Vidyapeetha have tried to bring a lot of awareness about
the magic created through N.S.S. The NSS has become a platform to serve the society
and bring happiness and smile on many faces. We created a hub to deliver something to
the society by showcasing our talents. So it is not simply an association, a reason to
achieve our objective and carryon the legacy for the coming years.
Brahmana Pattu,/Kayam village was adopted. Nearly 70 volunteers extended social services. Dr.S.Dakshinamurthi Sarma and Dr.Bharat
Bhushan Rath are the Proaramme Officers. Sri Ravi Naidu accomDanied the students.
SHRAMADANAM
The weeds in and around the village school were uprooted to provide land for the playground and drill classes. In each village NSS
volunteers planted 25 varieties of different flowering and fruit bearing shady trees around the school compound. The school building was
white washed by the volunteers. For this the NSS volunteers got a very good appreciation from the school children and villagers.
LITERACY PROGRAMME
The NSS volunteers went all-round the villages and other near by places
for gathering the school aged children and their parents. They were taught
about the importance of education, the practice of child labour. The parents of
the children are very much impressed by our lectures and realised and admitted
their children into the nearby school. This was a tough task but we pedormed
with ease.
The volunteers taught to the women & girls of this village regarding how
to overcome anaemia, need of healthy diet, importance of immunity, personal
