Sustainability
ThyssenKrupp Stainless pursues a sustainable corporate policy in which
the interests of the environment play a key role. This is reflected not only in
our production plants and processes, which are based on state-of-the-art
technology, but also in our materials, which are increasingly used in pollution
control applications such as vehicle exhaust systems, new generations of
power plants, and fuel cells.
Our sustainable corporate policy is aimed at securing the future for coming generations taking
economic, ecological and social aspects into account. However, in this field of tension it is economic
success that determines the room for maneuver in the other two areas. ThyssenKrupp Stainless offers
intelligent and sustainable solutions.
Economic aspects
Economic solidity and long-term success based on value-oriented management are central to
ThyssenKrupp Stainless’s understanding of sustainability, but non-economic aspects are also
systematically taken into account. Six factors are key to the success of our sustainability strategy:
effectiveness, efficiency, resources, impact, solidarity and justice. In an environment shaped by global
competition, these factors have to be constantly reexamined together with customers, suppliers,
capital providers, employees and other central stakeholders.
Materials
Longevity and 100% recyclability are two of the most important arguments for the materials of
ThyssenKrupp Stainless. For manufacturers and customers alike, products made from stainless
materials are an investment in the future. Because they are infinitely recyclable with no loss of quality,
stainless steel, nickel alloys and titanium are particularly kind to the environment. Recyclability is
therefore an important property of these materials. These properties and their ever widening range of
applications make these materials indispensable now and in the future.
