30th Anniversary: 1982—<strong>2012</strong><br />
The Soccer Organizaon of Charloesville‐Albemarle is a<br />
non‐profit soccer organizaon providing opportunies for<br />
approximately 5,000 youth players annually. Its travel<br />
program aracts players from a wide geographical area<br />
throughout western and central Virginia.<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong> has a deliberate, comprehensive, player development<br />
plan. Player development for long‐term success is<br />
the core mission of the club.<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong> travel players are recognized by US Regional and US<br />
Naonal Team programs as well as by top NCAA Division I<br />
men’s and women’s soccer programs throughout the<br />
country.<br />
For the serious soccer player, <strong>SOCA</strong>’s travel program and<br />
coaching staff provide an excellent developmental and<br />
compeve environment helping each player reach their<br />
specific soccer goals.<br />

FOCUS ON PLAYER DEVELOPMENT<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong>’s full‐me and travel coaching staff members<br />
have the professional experience, insight and educaon<br />
required to appropriately place each player<br />
into the level of programming that allows the player<br />
to learn and enjoy the game in a challenging,<br />
fun, compeve environment.<br />
Player Development<br />
Programming for the Elite travel player at <strong>SOCA</strong> is year‐round<br />
and comprehensive. <strong>SOCA</strong> provides a preseason camp for its<br />
Elite and Premier teams. In season, <strong>SOCA</strong> provides integrated<br />
speed and agility training as well as weekly advanced technical<br />
training. <strong>SOCA</strong> sends a minimum of two teams, U14 boys and<br />
girls, to Europe each summer.<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong> follows best pracces for youth soccer development by<br />
addressing the training to game raos for each age group. We<br />
also look at the periodizaon of each age group so that we can<br />
best provide the appropriate number of meaningful games as<br />
well as sufficient rest and recovery throughout the calendar<br />
year.<br />
College Soccer & College Recruing<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong>’s U19/18‐U15 boys and girls teams parcipate in a variety<br />
of college showcase events and tournaments. <strong>SOCA</strong> offers<br />
an annual recruing seminar and works closely with players to<br />
help them make the right academic and athlec college choice.<br />

SCHEDULE<br />
All players must attend a tryout to be considered for a<br />
<strong>SOCA</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> team; attendance at both tryouts is highly<br />
recommended. <strong>SOCA</strong> will have at least two teams<br />
per travel age group; Elite and Premier. Players must<br />
tryout age-appropriate. Placement on an older team is<br />
at the discretion of the <strong>SOCA</strong> DOC. No U10 players<br />
may play travel. No U11 or U12 players may play up.<br />
Players are placed on travel teams based upon ability.<br />
