30th Anniversary: 1982—2012
The Soccer Organizaon of Charloesville‐Albemarle is a
non‐profit soccer organizaon providing opportunies for
approximately 5,000 youth players annually. Its travel
program aracts players from a wide geographical area
throughout western and central Virginia.
SOCA has a deliberate, comprehensive, player development
plan. Player development for long‐term success is
the core mission of the club.
SOCA travel players are recognized by US Regional and US
Naonal Team programs as well as by top NCAA Division I
men’s and women’s soccer programs throughout the
country.
For the serious soccer player, SOCA’s travel program and
coaching staff provide an excellent developmental and
compeve environment helping each player reach their
specific soccer goals.

FOCUS ON PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
SOCA’s full‐me and travel coaching staff members
have the professional experience, insight and educaon
required to appropriately place each player
into the level of programming that allows the player
to learn and enjoy the game in a challenging,
fun, compeve environment.
Player Development
Programming for the Elite travel player at SOCA is year‐round
and comprehensive. SOCA provides a preseason camp for its
Elite and Premier teams. In season, SOCA provides integrated
speed and agility training as well as weekly advanced technical
training. SOCA sends a minimum of two teams, U14 boys and
girls, to Europe each summer.
SOCA follows best pracces for youth soccer development by
addressing the training to game raos for each age group. We
also look at the periodizaon of each age group so that we can
best provide the appropriate number of meaningful games as
well as sufficient rest and recovery throughout the calendar
year.
College Soccer & College Recruing
SOCA’s U19/18‐U15 boys and girls teams parcipate in a variety
of college showcase events and tournaments. SOCA offers
an annual recruing seminar and works closely with players to
help them make the right academic and athlec college choice.

spring seasons on Tuesday and Thursdays 5‐7pm at South
Fork Soccer Park. Trainers are also available during VCCL
and SCSL home match‐days.
2012 TRAVEL TRYOUT
SCHEDULE
All players must attend a tryout to be considered for a
SOCA Travel team; attendance at both tryouts is highly
recommended. SOCA will have at least two teams
per travel age group; Elite and Premier. Players must
tryout age-appropriate. Placement on an older team is
at the discretion of the SOCA DOC. No U10 players
may play travel. No U11 or U12 players may play up.
Players are placed on travel teams based upon ability.
Makeup dates TBA as needed.
