1936<br />

Robert Christensen, Pine<br />

River, Minn., was honored in<br />

January <strong>2004</strong> during the 100<br />

years <strong>of</strong> athletics anniversary<br />

celebration at St. Thomas<br />

Academy. He was hired in<br />

1938 to teach math and<br />

physics and to start a swim<br />

team. He and his wife<br />

celebrated their 65th wedding<br />

anniversary in August <strong>2004</strong>.<br />

1944<br />

Leo Casey, Charlottesville,<br />

Va., and his wife, Claire,<br />

celebrated their 50th wedding<br />

anniversary on April 24, <strong>2004</strong>.<br />

1950<br />

Brother William Brynda,<br />

FSC, St. Louis, Mo., retired<br />

from teaching in 2002 but<br />

still volunteers as a tutor at<br />

De La Salle Middle School at<br />

St. Matthew’s Parish.<br />

1953<br />

Clarence Telkes, Chicago,<br />

has completed his 53rd year<br />

working in high schools. He<br />

has been a teacher, football<br />

coach, administrator and now<br />

is a counselor for Gordon<br />

Tech High School.<br />

1957<br />

Donald Chopp, Westchester,<br />

Ill., retired in 1996 from<br />

General Motors and Electronic<br />

Data Systems. He has four<br />

children and six<br />

grandchildren, is active in<br />

refugee resettlement, is a<br />

minister <strong>of</strong> care for hospitals<br />

and shut-ins, and is an<br />

associate member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Sisters <strong>of</strong> St. Joseph.<br />

Richard Geimer, Kansas City,<br />

Mo., is in his 19th year at<br />

Archbishop O’Hara High<br />

School teaching religion,<br />

math and science.<br />

1960<br />

James Tufo, La Quinta, Calif.,<br />

retired Jan. 1, <strong>2004</strong> from<br />

Gulfstream Aerospace in<br />

Dallas, Texas.<br />

1962<br />

David Madland, Los Alamos,<br />

N.M., was elected a fellow <strong>of</strong><br />

the American Physical Society.<br />

James Murray, Forest Park,<br />

Ill., retired in June 2003 after<br />

26 years as a social worker<br />

for the Forest Park Public<br />

Schools. He also retired from<br />

the “Forest Park Review” as a<br />

columnist.<br />

Brother Patrick O’Brien,<br />

FSC, Memphis, Tenn., has<br />

been with the Christian<br />

Brothers Schools since his<br />

graduation from <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s<br />

College. He has taught in<br />

Africa, West Indies, Tulsa,<br />

Chicago, Cincinnati and<br />

Memphis.<br />

1963<br />

Michael Kurz, San Antonio,<br />

Texas, retired from Illinois<br />

State <strong>University</strong> after 35 years<br />

but has accepted a full-time<br />

teaching position at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Texas-San<br />

Antonio.<br />

James Morgan, Brentwood,<br />

Calif., has a new position as a<br />

senior scientist with Lawrence<br />

Livermore National Lab. He<br />

still travels to Russia in<br />

support <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Energy Plutonium Disposition<br />

program and various arms<br />

control agreements.<br />

1964<br />

Rev. Anthony Opem,<br />

Dakota Dunes, S.D., was<br />

named founding pastor <strong>of</strong><br />

Blessed Teresa <strong>of</strong> Calcutta<br />

Catholic Parish in 1999.<br />

1968<br />

Charles Fullenkamp, Rapid<br />

City, S.D., traveled to<br />

Managua, Nicaragua in 2002<br />

to help people with<br />

disabilities and is planning a<br />

return trip in <strong>2004</strong>. He is<br />

employed at DakotaLink<br />

Assistive Technology, where<br />

he does assessment and<br />

training for people with<br />

disabilities.<br />

1969<br />

Dan Pelowski, Chaska,<br />

Minn., is head coach <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Chaska High School boys<br />

basketball team. He led his<br />

team to win the <strong>2004</strong> AAAA<br />

<strong>Minnesota</strong> State High School<br />

Basketball Championship.<br />

1970<br />

Ronald Nitka, Stevens Point,<br />

Wis., is vice president and<br />

product programming<br />

manager for financial<br />

applications with Skyward Inc.<br />

Rev. Donald Przybylski,<br />

Mosinee, Wis., celebrated 30<br />

years <strong>of</strong> priesthood in May<br />

<strong>2004</strong>.<br />

Jack Ramey, Beaver Dam,<br />

Wis., retired from the<br />

Wisconsin Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Corrections after 33 years <strong>of</strong><br />

service.<br />

John Temple, Osakis, Minn.,<br />

retired in June <strong>2004</strong> after 34<br />

years <strong>of</strong> teaching German and<br />

English with Osakis Public<br />

School.<br />

1971<br />

Dennis Nordstrom, Blaine,<br />

Minn., does volunteer work<br />

for Catholic Charities and still<br />

follows the <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s<br />

hockey team.<br />

1972<br />

Kevin Karnick, Tomball,<br />

Texas, retired from the<br />

Treasury Department. He is<br />

now conducting forensic<br />

accounting and background<br />

investigations for private<br />

clients. Kevin, his wife Mary<br />

(Lucas ’73) and their children<br />

spent three weeks traveling<br />

throughout Europe via train in<br />

2003.<br />

1973<br />

Karen (Wisniewski)<br />

Lewison, Hartford, Wis.,<br />

retired from F. Dohmen<br />

Company in July 2002. She<br />

now spends six months <strong>of</strong> the<br />

year in Wisconsin and six<br />

months in St. George, Utah,<br />

golfing and fishing.<br />

Ron Meier, Winona, sold the<br />

three Winona-based<br />

McDonald’s franchises in<br />

August 2003 and now is a<br />

real estate agent for Coldwell<br />

Banker, Skeels/Moore &<br />

Associates.<br />

1974<br />

Eileen (McVeigh) Creagh,<br />

Orland Park, Ill., is attending<br />

Dominican <strong>University</strong> for her<br />

master’s degree in education.<br />

William Crimmins, Arlington<br />

Heights, Ill., works for Allstate<br />

Insurance Company as vice<br />

president and deputy general<br />

counsel. He and his wife,<br />

Linda (Anstett CST ’76), love<br />

to talk to their three children<br />

about their college memories<br />

in Winona.<br />

Dr. John Forrette, Sioux<br />

<strong>Fall</strong>s, S.D., was named<br />

president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s<br />

<strong>University</strong> Alumni Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Directors for <strong>2004</strong>-2006.<br />

Harleysville, Pa., completed<br />

30 years <strong>of</strong> teaching,<br />

coaching and being<br />

department head and<br />

curricular chair for Health<br />

and Physical Education for the<br />

Archdiocese <strong>of</strong> Philadelphia.<br />

John Schmitz, Chicago, has<br />

a new position as vice<br />

president <strong>of</strong> business<br />

development with Ambu, Inc.<br />

Edward Schultek, Sherman,<br />

Conn., is senior vice president<br />

for sales for Pepsico<br />

International.<br />

Ann (Mulvey) Wilson,<br />

Geneva, Ill., has a new<br />

position as managing editor<br />

for The Country Sampler<br />

Group.<br />

1975<br />

John McDonough, Chicago,<br />

was promoted to senior vice<br />

president <strong>of</strong> marketing and<br />

broadcasting for the Chicago<br />

Cubs.<br />

Jim McWhinnie, Kailua,<br />

Hawaii, was elected secretary<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Hawaii State Bar<br />

Association for <strong>2004</strong> and was<br />
