<strong>University</strong>, will provide an update with<br />

news about our alma mater.<br />

KEYNOTE SPEAKER<br />

Eric Jolly<br />

Dr. Eric J. Jolly, president <strong>of</strong><br />

the Science Museum <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Minnesota</strong> and a champion<br />

<strong>of</strong> equal access for<br />

education, will speak about<br />

the “Gift <strong>of</strong> Education.”<br />

His job entails overseeing<br />

a $31 million budget and<br />

more than 500 employees<br />

for a museum that attracts<br />

1.2 million visitors annually to downtown St. Paul.<br />

But his passions in life also include weaving Cherokee baskets<br />

(part Cherokee, he also speaks the language fluently and works<br />

closely with the Native American community), driving a<br />

Zamboni, parachuting out <strong>of</strong> planes, and playing hockey.<br />

He is a former vice president and senior scientist at the<br />

Education Development Center in Newton, Mass., a not-forpr<strong>of</strong>it,<br />

research and development “think-tank.” And he is the<br />

former assistant to the chancellor at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Nebraska.<br />

The Oldie Moldie All-Stars<br />

A 30-year tradition at <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s, the All-Stars<br />

are a student/alumni band <strong>of</strong> mostly Phi Mu<br />

Alpha Sinfonia members. Performing popular<br />

1950s and 1960s hits, they are the traditional<br />

closing act in SMU’s Blue Angel variety show.<br />

the convention! If you have items<br />

which capture the history <strong>of</strong> <strong>Saint</strong><br />

Mary’s, bring them with you to the<br />

convention or contact us if you<br />

are unable to attend. SMU<br />

archivist Dr. William Crozier will create<br />

a display showing the character <strong>of</strong> this<br />

university over the years.<br />

the close <strong>of</strong> the exhibition area<br />

Saturday afternoon.)<br />
