April 2. The board <strong>of</strong> directors<br />

includes: Brother President Louis<br />

DeThomasis, as well as Lyle<br />

Delwiche, John Leaf and John<br />

Carlson ’60 <strong>of</strong> the SMU Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Trustees. Officers are: Steve<br />

Lubahn, CEO; Jim Bedtke, CFO;<br />

and Ann Merchlewitz, secretary.<br />

A portion <strong>of</strong> GeoSpatial<br />

Services will remain as a non-pr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

extension <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Resource Analysis. Barry<br />

Drazkowski (Master’s ’79) will be<br />

the executive director <strong>of</strong> the nonpr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

GeoSpatial Services<br />

operations, and Dr. David<br />

McConville will continue as<br />

academic chair <strong>of</strong> the Department<br />

<strong>of</strong> Resource Analysis.<br />

GeoSpatial Services is a fullservice<br />

provider <strong>of</strong> GIS consulting<br />

and development services. Major<br />

clients <strong>of</strong> GIS mapping services<br />

include clients in natural resource<br />

management, oil and gas pipelines,<br />

electric utilities, and other<br />

industries. GeoSpatial Services, Inc.<br />

is a wholly owned subsidiary <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Minnesota</strong>, with operations in both<br />

Winona and Minneapolis. All net<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>its from its operation are<br />

returned to SMU.<br />

To support ongoing growth in<br />

GIS consulting and to support<br />

future growth, several new<br />

experienced GIS pr<strong>of</strong>essionals have<br />

been hired.<br />

Additionally, remodeling <strong>of</strong> the<br />

second floor <strong>of</strong> the former library<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Saint</strong> Teresa campus is now<br />

complete. GeoSpatial Services has<br />

increased its space by adding nearly<br />

6,000-square feet to its existing<br />

4,000-square foot area, including<br />

space on all three floors <strong>of</strong> the<br />

headquarters building at 360 Vila<br />

Street in Winona.<br />
