C. Language Requirement: one year or equivalent <strong>of</strong> college level modern language.<br />
Political Science Minor (20 credits):<br />
Completion <strong>of</strong> the four political science common core courses as listed, plus six credits from upperdivision<br />
political science courses constitutes a minor. The minor provides breadth and foundation in the<br />
discipline and is an excellent supplement to other liberal arts majors.<br />

Program Courses<br />
GS489 Thesis Development 1 credit<br />
Students choose a topic and design the research project required <strong>of</strong> Global Studies majors. The course<br />
is conducted primarily on an independent basis in consultation with the global studies coordinator.<br />
Prerequisite: approval <strong>of</strong> the global studies coordinator. Junior or senior status.<br />
GS490 Research in Global Studies 2 credits<br />
Students complete the original research project required <strong>of</strong> Global Studies majors. Prerequisite: GS489<br />
(may be concurrent).<br />
PS102 American National Government 3 credits<br />
A basic course on the nature and purpose <strong>of</strong> our U.S. political system; includes the Constitution,<br />
institutions, processes and persons that combine to form our federal government. The student is<br />
exposed to a variety <strong>of</strong> approaches to political study.<br />
PS242 Logic <strong>of</strong> Analysis 4 credits<br />
This course examines the major social science perspectives in conjunction with an instruction in the<br />
logic and procedures <strong>of</strong> gathering information about social phenomena. The course covers such topics<br />
as: the logic <strong>of</strong> the scientific method, research design, hypotheses formation, theory and methods <strong>of</strong><br />
scaling, and research analysis. Prerequisite: ST132 or ST232. Also <strong>of</strong>fered as S250.<br />
PS250 Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Public Administration 3 credits<br />
An overview <strong>of</strong> the field <strong>of</strong> public administration, the course includes the development and growth<br />
<strong>of</strong> public administration, organization theory, personnel administration, leadership, budgeting,<br />
administrative law, and public policy.<br />
