Why Workplace Health?
Better engagement
Employers who promote good health in the workplace benefit
from improved morale, productivity and communications.
Improved employee health
and wellbeing
Healthier staff have fewer days off sick, are less likely to injure
themselves, and are less likely to suffer from stress.
Healthy investment
Workplace health programmes have been shown
to be more cost effective than individual staff health
management measures. Also, through reduced absenteeism,
staff turnover, and recruitment costs, and increased
productivity, workplace health programmes can be cost
effective solutions for businesses.
Staff development
Workplace health programmes provide staff opportunities to
demonstrate and develop new skills. Staff can benefit through
workplace health training to build on skills in communications,
management and health education.
“Being a Workplace Health Champion has involved a steep,
but incredibly rewarding learning curve.”
Laurel Joseph, Workplace Health Champion
CSR opportunity
Being an accredited ‘healthy employer’ is becoming
increasingly important for attracting new employees. It can
also enhance customer satisfaction through improved staff
morale and improved external perception of the organisation
brand.
“We’ve been able to offer staff many opportunities already to
become more active.”
Sarah Wheatley, Workplace Health Champion for
Activate Sutton and Merton PCT
“At Croydon Council we are committed to improving
employee health and wellbeing. The Activate Your Workplace
programme marks a big step towards achieving this goal.”
Janet Morrison, Workplace Health Champion for
Activate Croydon Council
“Support from St Mary's has been invaluable to the Balance
project and indeed the general well-being of employees.”
