3.6 Quality of Written Communication<br />

For units involving extended writing <strong>Catering</strong> and Hospitality candidates will be<br />

assessed on the quality of their written communication within the overall assessment<br />

of that unit.<br />

Mark schemes for these units include the following specific criteria for the<br />

assessment of written communication:<br />

• legibility of text; accuracy of spelling, punctuation and grammar; clarity of<br />

meaning;<br />

• selection of a form and style of writing appropriate to purpose and to<br />

complexity of subject matter;<br />

• organisation of information clearly and coherently; use of specialist<br />

vocabulary where appropriate.
