height 5ft. 9 or lOin., age about 25 years, light hair,<br />

long face, high cheek bones, slight moustache only,<br />

rather sallow complexion, wearing grey tweed coat,<br />

brown trousers resembling moleskins, light coloured<br />

wide-awake hat.<br />

JJl{elbom·ne.-On the night <strong>of</strong> the 22nd ult., a box<br />

containing 5,000 sovereigns, Sydney mint coinage,<br />

was stolen frolli the strong room <strong>of</strong> the s.s.<br />

"Oceana," between Melbourne and Sydney. Special<br />

inquiries are requested for GEORGE ARMSTRONG, who<br />

absconded from the" Oceana" at 4 a.m. on Saturday,<br />

23rd ult., and may have committed the robbery.<br />

Description :-Ship's steward, 25 to 30 years <strong>of</strong> age,<br />

5ft. 9 or lOin. high, dark complexion, dark moustache<br />

only, military gait, wore blue serge or dark suit, grey<br />

tweed cap, a Londoner, and at one time served in the<br />

Indian Army. A reward <strong>of</strong> £500 is now guaranteed<br />

on recovery <strong>of</strong> the money and conviction <strong>of</strong> the<br />
