Dear SLUH Moms,
Our school year is under way and there are many exciting Mothers’ Club activities during the
upcoming weeks. Please join us for these events as your schedule permits.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, August 29: Mothers’ Club General Meeting, 7:00pm in the Joe Schulte Theatre,
reception to follow. All moms are invited and encouraged to attend!
Thursday, September 1: SLUHlard Market Card Party Craft Workshop, 9:00am-noon in the
Mothers’ Club workroom (see enclosed flyer). No previous experience is required and ALL
moms are invited. Lunch will be served.
Wednesday and Thursday, September 7 & 8: Freshman Moms Cookie Sale, 9:30 am – 1:00
pm outside of the student cafeteria.
Sunday, September 11: Family Mass, 9:30 am in the SLUH Chapel. All SLUH students and
their families are invited (see enclosed flyer).
Thursday, September 22: Mothers’ Club Mass – 10:00 am in the Chapel, 11:00 am lunch and
meeting in the Loge, Noon – SLUHlard Market Card Party Craft Workshop in the Mothers’
Club workroom. All moms are welcome!
Monday-Friday, September 19-23: Honduras Baby Shower Drive. The list of needed items
has been changed as the airlines now charge for baggage. Please look at the enclosed flyer.
Sunday, October 16: SLUHlard Market Card Party, doors open at 11:00 am. See enclosed
reservation form, Billiken Raffle details, donations and volunteers needed.
Sunday, October 23: Mother-Son Mass and Lunch (Invitations will be mailed in September).

Party! It is an afternoon filled with new and old friends, where you can just shop and socialize
or play a rousing game of cards, board games or any combination. We have baked goods,
craft booths, and white elephant treasures, lots of attendance prizes, and favor bags!!

All workshops take place in the Mothers’ Club workroom located near the weight room in the basement
of the school. Please bring scissors and an apron or paint shirt. If you have pliers, wire cutters or a glue
gun for craft making, please bring those as well. We are grateful for your willing hands and hope to

HOPE FOR HONDURAS BABY SHOWER
Since 1995, SLUH students and Mr. Merriott travel to Honduras for Senior Project. They
spend 28 days during the month of January in the Nutrition Center built with funds collected from the
SLUH community. Children from birth through 5 years stay at the Center as long as needed to restore their
nutritional health. Supplies and funds are needed each year to continue this wonderful project. This is
where you, Moms of SLUH, can help.
Please send needed items (see list below) during the week of 9/19-9/23/11 to the SLUH
switchboard. The weather in Honduras is usually warm, so summer clothing (which is now on
sale) is needed. All items should be new and sized to fit newborns thru 5 year-olds.
Everything we collect will travel with the boys and Mr. Merriott. Unfortunately they will be bringing
fewer bags this year (due to the charge for luggage), so they will be making some purchases when they get
there. We can not accept any large items such as strollers, cribs, disposable diapers, or other bulky items.

Painted Ladies
The Painted Ladies create the Painted Treasures auctioned off at
Cashbah and we need your help!
OLD FURNITURE NEEDED ~ especially occasional tables, desks, book
shelves, trays, dressers and chests.
CRAFTY LADIES NEEDED ~ Join us Tuesday mornings around 9 am
beginning in October in the Painted Treasures room (next to the
weight room). We need a range of talents from sanding, priming, base
painting and artistic finishing.

Martha Committee
“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in
prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones,
exercise hospitality.” Romans 12:12-13
The Martha Committee is designed to assist SLUH families and staff in time of need.
Whatever the need – meals, rides, cards, flowers, and especially prayer – the Martha
Committee is here to tend to it. All SLUH Moms are encouraged to keep everyone in
the SLUH community who may be experiencing a difficult time in their prayers.
