Our school year is under way and there are many exciting Mothers’ <strong>Club</strong> activities during the<br />

upcoming weeks. Please join us for these events as your schedule permits.<br />

Upcoming Events:<br />

Monday, August 29: Mothers’ <strong>Club</strong> General Meeting, 7:00pm in the Joe Schulte Theatre,<br />

reception to follow. All moms are invited and encouraged to attend!<br />

Thursday, September 1: <strong>SLUH</strong>lard <strong>Market</strong> <strong>Card</strong> <strong>Party</strong> Craft Workshop, 9:00am-noon in the<br />

Mothers’ <strong>Club</strong> workroom (see enclosed flyer). No previous experience is required and ALL<br />

moms are invited. Lunch will be served.<br />

Wednesday and Thursday, September 7 & 8: Freshman Moms Cookie Sale, 9:30 am – 1:00<br />

pm outside of the student cafeteria.<br />

Sunday, September 11: Family Mass, 9:30 am in the <strong>SLUH</strong> Chapel. All <strong>SLUH</strong> students and<br />

their families are invited (see enclosed flyer).<br />

Thursday, September 22: Mothers’ <strong>Club</strong> Mass – 10:00 am in the Chapel, 11:00 am lunch and<br />

meeting in the Loge, Noon – <strong>SLUH</strong>lard <strong>Market</strong> <strong>Card</strong> <strong>Party</strong> Craft Workshop in the Mothers’<br />

<strong>Club</strong> workroom. All moms are welcome!<br />

Monday-Friday, September 19-23: Honduras Baby Shower Drive. The list of needed items<br />

HOPE FOR HONDURAS BABY SHOWER<br />

Since 1995, <strong>SLUH</strong> students and Mr. Merriott travel to Honduras for Senior Project. They<br />

spend 28 days during the month of January in the Nutrition Center built with funds collected from the<br />

<strong>SLUH</strong> community. Children from birth through 5 years stay at the Center as long as needed to restore their<br />

nutritional health. Supplies and funds are needed each year to continue this wonderful project. This is<br />

where you, Moms of <strong>SLUH</strong>, can help.<br />

Please send needed items (see list below) during the week of 9/19-9/23/11 to the <strong>SLUH</strong><br />

switchboard. The weather in Honduras is usually warm, so summer clothing (which is now on<br />

sale) is needed. All items should be new and sized to fit newborns thru 5 year-olds.<br />

Everything we collect will travel with the boys and Mr. Merriott. Unfortunately they will be bringing<br />

fewer bags this year (due to the charge for luggage), so they will be making some purchases when they get<br />

there. We can not accept any large items such as strollers, cribs, disposable diapers, or other bulky items.<br />

Painted Ladies<br />

The Painted Ladies create the Painted Treasures auctioned off at<br />

Cashbah and we need your help!<br />

OLD FURNITURE NEEDED ~ especially occasional tables, desks, book<br />

shelves, trays, dressers and chests.<br />

CRAFTY LADIES NEEDED ~ Join us Tuesday mornings around 9 am<br />

beginning in October in the Painted Treasures room (next to the<br />

weight room). We need a range of talents from sanding, priming, base<br />

painting and artistic finishing.<br />

Martha Committee<br />

“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in<br />

prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones,<br />

exercise hospitality.” Romans 12:12-13<br />

The Martha Committee is designed to assist <strong>SLUH</strong> families and staff in time of need.<br />

Whatever the need – meals, rides, cards, flowers, and especially prayer – the Martha<br />

Committee is here to tend to it. All <strong>SLUH</strong> Moms are encouraged to keep everyone in<br />

the <strong>SLUH</strong> community who may be experiencing a difficult time in their prayers.<br />
