2. National Honor Society<br />
The goal of the <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>High</strong> School's Chapter of the National<br />
Honor Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire<br />
to render service, to promote worthy leadership <strong>and</strong> to encourage the<br />
development of character in its students. Membership in this society is based<br />
on scholarship, service, leadership <strong>and</strong> character. Preliminary criteria for<br />
selection are as follows:<br />
Scholarship:<br />
A c<strong>and</strong>idate must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.6 or higher.<br />
Character:<br />
A c<strong>and</strong>idate must consistently exemplify desirable qualities of behavior <strong>and</strong><br />
demonstrate the highest st<strong>and</strong>ards of honesty <strong>and</strong> reliability. (There should be<br />
no serious infractions of <strong>SLUH</strong> rules or known incidents of insubordination or<br />
disrespect to teachers, administrators <strong>and</strong> staff. Two jugs disqualify one for<br />
NHS.)<br />
Service:<br />
A c<strong>and</strong>idate should be involved in on-going service while at <strong>SLUH</strong>, including<br />
service outside the school environment. As a rule of thumb, a sophomore<br />
c<strong>and</strong>idate should document 20+ hours of service during the year, while junior<br />
