g. Student’s on-line behavior needs to reflect the general behavioral
standards set forth in the student handbook. Websites, pictures, and
videos on-line should reflect positively on the student and on SLUH.
Careless behavior on Social Network Sites (Facebook, MySpace,
etc.) could result in any multitude of consequences for students.
Failure to comply with the guidelines will result, at least, in revocation of
privilege, disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal, and/or prosecution
by the authorities.
Electronics
MP3 players, iPods, and other devices that play music only (not iTouches) can
only be used with headphones during the activity periods, lunch, breaks and
unscheduled periods. The device and the headphones can never be used in
the hallways.
Pagers/cell phones, iPhones, iTouches and the like are to be kept turned
off, in students’ lockers. The student should never have these devices on
their person during the school day unless with permission of the Assistant
Principal for Student Life. This also includes exam days. The following
consequences will be assessed if a student violates the pager/cell phone rule:
1 st offense 3 hours of jug, confiscation of phone
2 nd offense Saturday jug (6 hours), confiscation of phone, $25 fine and
call home
3 rd offense discretion of the Assistant Principal for Student Life
Internet Postings
No SLUH student or faculty member may post on the internet anything using
SLUH's name without the permission of the Vice President for Advancement
and Planning. This includes invitations to SLUH events on or off campus,
information about students or faculty, pictures or the organizing of any SLUH
activity. Violation of this policy may result in suspension/disciplinary
consequences.
10. Dress Code
In general, the school relies upon the good judgment and taste of both students
and their parents in the implementation of these guidelines for student dress.
The school does recognize that a student should be allowed to express his
individuality through how he dresses. Therefore considerable freedom is
allowed with respect to clothes and grooming. However, one's dress should
show self-respect and respect for others and not bring undue attention to
oneself. Torn and/or ragged clothing is never acceptable attire. Students are
expected to be neat and clean at all times. They are to dress in a manner that
indicates they understand the difference between being dressed for a day at
school and dressed for a recreational/social activity outside of school time.
