student's behavior necessitates the Asst. Principal for <strong><strong>St</strong>udent</strong> Life calling his<br />

parent or guardian; or the student fails to complete all of the conditions of his<br />

disciplinary probation as directed by the Asst. Principal for <strong><strong>St</strong>udent</strong> Life in a<br />

letter to the student's parent or guardian.<br />

Disciplinary probation will range from one semester or two quarters<br />

to the remainder of the student’s enrollment at <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />

School. The restrictions <strong>and</strong> conditions of the probation may vary to meet the<br />

needs of the student <strong>and</strong> his offense. Seniors who are on disciplinary probation<br />

are not eligible for the “Off Campus Lunch Program.”<br />

The student’s parents will receive a letter to notify them of the<br />

probation. A copy of this letter will be kept on file until the student graduates<br />

from <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>High</strong> School.<br />

A student participating in co-curriculars (sports, clubs, drama, Prep<br />

News, STUCO, etc.) may be subject to additional policies, suspension <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

expulsion from that particular co-curricular.<br />

2. Suspension<br />

Suspension will take place after sufficient proof of the violation has<br />

been ascertained or when deemed necessary by the administration. Any of the<br />

five administrators has the right to suspend a student. The normal suspension<br />

will be a minimum of ONE school day to a maximum of FIVE school days <strong>and</strong><br />

necessitates a conference with the student, his parents <strong>and</strong> the Assistant<br />

Principal for <strong><strong>St</strong>udent</strong> Life BEFORE the student is allowed to return to school.<br />

In extraordinary situations, the student may be suspended from school <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

classes for more than FIVE school days.<br />

a. Out of School--During the time of the suspension, the student will<br />

not be allowed on school property for any reasons except with the approval of<br />

the Assistant Principal for <strong><strong>St</strong>udent</strong> Life. The student will not be allowed to<br />

attend any school function or co-curricular during the time of the suspension.<br />

b. In-School--At the discretion of the Assistant Principal for <strong><strong>St</strong>udent</strong><br />

Life the suspension may be served as an in-school suspension. The student<br />

will not be allowed to attend classes, but will be allowed make-up privileges.<br />

The student is responsible for classwork missed. The student will not be<br />

allowed to attend any school function or co-curricular during the time of the<br />

suspension.<br />

The student <strong>and</strong> his parents will be given written notice of his<br />

suspension. This notice will include the following: a) student’s name; b) the<br />

date of the suspension; c) the length of the suspension; d) the reason for the<br />

suspension; e) conditions of the suspension. A copy of the notice will be on file<br />

until the student graduates from <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>High</strong> School.<br />

Grounds for Suspension<br />

Behavior which shall constitute good cause for suspension <strong>and</strong> probation<br />

include, but is not limited to, the following:<br />

a. Fighting.<br />

b. Being involved in v<strong>and</strong>alism at school or a school function.<br />
