This item is a portion of a Stegodont thigh bone, 1 - 2 MM years old. The Stegodont was
the genetic precursor to the wooly mammoth and today's modern pachyderm! This bone
fragment, displayed in an acrylic box, is from the Pleistocene Era and found in central Asia.
A well known Chicago natural history museum deaccessioned this item from its collection.
Our good fortune is that it found its merry way to tonight's Cashbah auction. The lucky
owner will no doubt place this one of a kind item in his/her office or den. One word of
caution: while the item is fossilized bone, it is still fragile. Please handle with care.

48 “OH, GOD!”...ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?
SLUH dad and artist, Sam Fentress, toured the highways and byways of America and
recorded a photographic diary of the “roadside religion” he encountered along the way. One
result is this beautiful print as well as his book, “Bible Road.” The signed print is one of
only twelve from a photo taken in San Diego in 1995. The St. Louis Art Museum owns one
of these prints as well. Both the print and book are signed by the author, whose work has
been published in over 75 magazines worldwide, and hangs in museums including The Art
Institute of Chicago, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Bibliotheque
nationale de France.
