Verbesina howardiana
Verbesi~ howardiana J. Olsen, 1989107.
Subshrub with rather succulent stems; leaves clustered near
branch ends, obovate, to 10 cm x 5 cm, the small teeth
glandular; involucral bracts dark brown; ray-florets yellow,
conspicuous, 1.2-1.5 cm long, disk-florets glabrous.
Endemic and new far Dominica in elfm woodlands: Mome
Flowering in October, fruiting December.
Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Dominica now each have
endemic montane species of Verbesina. The ariginal publication's
attribution of Dominica's endemic to the Dominican
Republic (Hispaniola) is an unfortunate error.
