Cosmopolitan weed; along roads and in gardens <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dominica</strong>:<br />

The Emst specimen, with a diminutive and reddish aspect,<br />

was annotated by burteig as “Oxalis corniculata L. var.<br />

atropurpurea Planchon attacked by fungus.”<br />

Neotropics; in disturbed places <strong>of</strong> southwest <strong>Dominica</strong>:<br />

Grand Bay (Eggers 615), Laudat (Lloyd 354), Morne Awurna<br />

(Nicolson 1999), near Soufribre village (Ernst 1346), South<br />

Chiltem (Hodge 1644).<br />

PASSIFLORACEAE<br />

Passiflora multijlora Linnaeus, <strong>of</strong> Costa Rica and Greater<br />

Antilles, was cited for <strong>Dominica</strong> by Grisebach (1860:291),<br />

based on Linnaeus’ citation <strong>of</strong> the type locality as “<strong>Dominica</strong>.”<br />

The type locality is surely the <strong>Dominica</strong>n Republic in<br />

Hispaniola, as concluded by Killip (1938:77).<br />

Passiflora vitifolia Kunth, with large, scarlet flowers and<br />

3-lobed leaves, was cultivated at Lisdara Estate (Hodge 2418).<br />
