6-merous, 1 or 2 per axil; pedicel to 4 cm; 4 large bracts to 1.3<br />

cm enclosing bud; sepals 4 mm; petals 1 cm, pink; stamens 12,<br />

creamy yellow.<br />

Lesser Antilles and Trinidad; locally abundant in moist<br />

forests at mid-elevations (400-800 m) <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dominica</strong>: Bells<br />

(Whitefoord 6143), Boiling Lake (Eggers 614 at GH), Deux<br />

Branches (Hodge 3467, Howard 11773), En Haut Jean<br />

(Webster 13526), Freshwater Lake (Whitefoord 3854), Laudat<br />
