Secondary school<br />

The secondary school education system is roughly divided <strong>in</strong>to general secondary<br />

school and vocational/technical secondary school. Every February <strong>the</strong> call for secondary<br />

school entry is published and first-round applications are due <strong>in</strong> March.<br />

Enrolment to one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> faculties <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Maribor<br />

As a foreigner, you have <strong>the</strong> right to study as an undergraduate full-time student<br />

at public educational <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>in</strong> Slovenia for free. You will merely be required<br />

to pay <strong>the</strong> enrolment fee, which varies <strong>in</strong> amount from one faculty to ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

If you wish to study at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Maribor and have previously graduated<br />

abroad, you will be required to start an education recognition procedure for <strong>the</strong><br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g your education process, which means that you are required<br />

to fill <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> N form (available at <strong>the</strong> Admissions Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Maribor)<br />

and enclose <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g upon submission <strong>of</strong> your application:<br />

• your orig<strong>in</strong>al certificate <strong>of</strong> completed education, which you would like to have<br />

recognised;<br />

• a certificate <strong>of</strong> completed secondary school education (matura exam) – <strong>the</strong><br />

certificate must be legalised ei<strong>the</strong>r on <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> Hague Convention from<br />

1961 or Act on verification <strong>of</strong> documents <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational traffic;<br />

• a photocopy <strong>of</strong> your orig<strong>in</strong>al certificate <strong>of</strong> completed education referred to <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> first <strong>in</strong>dent;<br />

• a certified Slovenian translation (by a court <strong>in</strong>terpreter) <strong>of</strong> your orig<strong>in</strong>al certificate<br />

<strong>of</strong> completed education referred to <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> first <strong>in</strong>dent;<br />

• secondary school certificates for each year <strong>of</strong> your secondary school education;
