STEP 1<br />
Create your SF <strong>State</strong> Password<br />
To access all services at SF <strong>State</strong>, you<br />
must know your SF <strong>State</strong> ID number<br />
and password. <strong>You</strong>r SF <strong>State</strong> ID number<br />
was assigned after you submitted your<br />
application for admission. Notification<br />
of your SF <strong>State</strong> ID was sent <strong>to</strong> you<br />
by e-mail and is on your notice of<br />
admission. <strong>You</strong> will create your<br />
SF <strong>State</strong> Password the first time<br />
you go <strong>to</strong> www.sfsu.edu/admit<br />
STEP 2<br />
Apply Early for Housing<br />
On-campus housing is in high<br />
demand and not guaranteed.<br />
<strong>You</strong> must apply for housing separately<br />
from your application for admission.<br />
Be sure <strong>to</strong> apply for housing before<br />
January 30, 2011 for the fall semester.<br />

STEP 3<br />
Apply for Financial Aid<br />
To be considered for financial aid, fill out<br />
a Free Application for Federal Student<br />
Aid (FAFSA) and list SF <strong>State</strong>’s federal<br />
school code: 001154. <strong>You</strong> are strongly<br />
encouraged <strong>to</strong> complete your FAFSA<br />
online at www.fafsa.ed.gov <strong>Do</strong> not<br />
wait until you or your parents have filed<br />
tax returns. The Financial Aid office will<br />
notify you by e-mail about your financial<br />
aid. Go <strong>to</strong> www.sfsu.edu/~finaid<br />
STEP 4<br />
Sign Up for the English (EPT) and<br />
Mathematics (ELM) Placement Tests<br />
All new students must test if the notice<br />
of admission indicates that tests are<br />
required. SF <strong>State</strong> urges all non-exempt<br />
students <strong>to</strong> test early, in March 2011<br />
at any CSU or in April at select CSU’s.<br />
Students who do not test on or before<br />
May 7, 2011 will not be able <strong>to</strong> attend<br />
SF <strong>State</strong>. Be sure <strong>to</strong> list SF <strong>State</strong> as the<br />
campus <strong>to</strong> receive your scores. Sign<br />

Accept Admission Offer online—<br />
Deadline: May 1, 2011<br />
If you plan <strong>to</strong> attend SF <strong>State</strong> in Fall<br />
2011, you must accept the admission<br />
offer online between April 1 and<br />
May 1. Students who attempt <strong>to</strong><br />
accept admission after May 1 will<br />
not be guaranteed a space at SF<br />
<strong>State</strong>. Students admitted after May 1<br />
must accept within two weeks after<br />
admission date. To accept admission<br />

STEP 7<br />
Set Up an SF <strong>State</strong> E-mail Account<br />
When you accept your admission online<br />
you must also create your SF <strong>State</strong> e-mail<br />
account. SF <strong>State</strong> will use this address <strong>to</strong><br />
send you crucial e-mail reminders. Once<br />
your e-mail address is set up, please<br />
log on<strong>to</strong> www.sfsu.edu/login.htm <strong>to</strong><br />
check your SF <strong>State</strong> e-mail every week.<br />
STEP 8<br />
Meet Immunization Requirements<br />
All students must fulfill immunization<br />
requirements before they can register for<br />
classes. First-time freshmen enrolled<br />
in a California public high school after<br />
July 1, 1999, do not have <strong>to</strong> verify<br />
immunizations, since they appear on<br />
the high school transcript. Transfers<br />
must provide proof of immunizations,
egardless of high school enrollment.<br />

bring form plus proof of immunizations<br />
<strong>to</strong> the Registrar’s counter.<br />
STEP 9<br />
Sign Up for New Student Orientation<br />
and Register for Fall Classes<br />
Orientation is the only way for new<br />
freshmen and transfer students <strong>to</strong><br />
receive advising and early registration<br />
for classes. There are many dates for<br />
orientation on campus plus some<br />
Southern California dates. Sign up<br />
for orientation starting April 1 when<br />
you accept your offer of admission.<br />
Note: For Freshmen, early priority<br />
registration for classes and manda<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
advising for freshmen happens at<br />
orientation. Students who fail <strong>to</strong><br />
complete an orientation will not<br />
participate in Early Priority Registration<br />
for classes but will register last, after<br />
all other students have registered.<br />

identification card?<br />
A student identification card (OneCard)<br />

OneCard is at orientation but cards are<br />
also available in the One S<strong>to</strong>p Student<br />
