will insist on respect of "its holy"
fundamental rights and citizen's freedom.
In our opinion, the essence is
not to stress the differences among
the young people as a basic concept
of division, but to know our differences
as a basis of building tolerance,
the cohabitation of citizens of
the Republic of Macedonia in the
political, economic, cultural and
social aspect of life", emphasized
Mr. Velichkovski.
According to the liberal democrats,
there is no real multiethnic crisis
in Macedonia. This attitude is
based upon the fact that there is no
genesis of interethnic animosity and
hatred among the young people.
"Through decades our nation has
lived its simple, modest and calm life
that adheres to one principle and that
is mutual understanding, nothing
more and nothing less", says the
President of the young liberal
democrats, Mr. Veko Temov.
The liberal democrats believe
that the today's burden through
which we live is only a fruit of
immature ethnic, moral, economic
and extremely corrupted system. In
the race for a greater profit we lost
the most important thing-being
human.
"The ordinary people who are
only asking for better life are not to
blame". The guilty are those who
very skillfully know how to make
their own political and financial
profit under the nomenclature:
"fighters for human rights". The
guilty are those who have forgotten
what they promised, the politicians
who have forgotten their people",
said Mr. Temov and added: "Better
future can be reached only by an
honest and sincere approach with no
prejudices. It is time to start working
on the problems that concern the
young people".
On the other hand, the ruling
party, VMRO-DPMNE, condemns
all acts of multiethnic animosity in
the Republic of Macedonia.
"Cohabitation of people from different
ethic background is one of the
pillars of the state, and every damage
of the pillar jeopardizes the country
existence", said Mr. Vladimir
Gjorchev, spokesperson of VMRO-
DPMNE.
According to him, the multiethnic
tensions and conflicts among the
young people should stop because
they are of no interests for anybody,
and the XXI century should be a century
of the European integration and
promotion of the European principles
and tolerance in the Balkans.
VMRO-DPMNE believes that the
state should and has to focus on the
bad situation that the young people
are facing with and all other cases of
ethnic extremism and chauvinism
should be severely punished. Thus,
it is important for the Ministry of
Interior to undertake some measurements
for punishing the actors of
such actions." By having sectioned
them all further attempts for destruction
of the civil concept of the
Republic of Macedonia will be in
vain" emphasizes Mr. Gjorchev.
The opposition party SDSM considers
the corps of freedom and
rights as basic measurement for
defining the level of democratization
of the society. SDSM accepts the fact
that the minorities apart from the
basic civil rights have special minority
rights and their accomplishment
is a must towards creating open society.
According to them, the level of
minority participation in society is
insufficient and that damages their
integrity.
"SDSM will fight for achieving a
real participation and equality of all
young people regardless their ethic
background. Thus, we think that the
implementation of the framework
agreement is of a great importance,
not only for the stabilization of the
country, but also for improving the
constitutional citizen's concept,
political and cultural rights, as well
as determinations for absence of discrimination
and creating measures
for their protection", said Mr. Igor
Ivanovski, President of the SDSM's
youth.
Apparently, the old story is
repeating for the young people too.
The politicians are very much concerned,
they pluck their hear and
shade bitter tears for the problems
that concern the young people, especially
before the elections. However,
the reality is different. A great number
of young people are waiting in
front of the Bureau of Employment,
the number of delinquency increases,
the drug addiction rapidly rises, and
all these anomalies result from the
irresponsibility of the elders. Or, to
put it a different way, the dominant
political philosophy is implied in the
message: "Don't look what I do, listen
what I say!"
Unfortunately, the greater part of
the young politicians instead of trying
to change the Balkan political
mentality of the old politicians, they
melt rapidly in their machiavellian,
personal and profitable logic which
has only one aim and that is power,
power and nothing but power… by
any means.
Is there a worse confirmation for
this situation by putting a sign of
equality between the young politicians
and the old politicians observing
the last student elections? The
elections haven't finished yet and
there are slight chances for them to
be finished. The question is under
what conditions the new student
leader will achieve his goals. Will
that be another fierce fight that concerns
the issue of the students' and
the young people's dignity who
should be the most developed component
and the vanguard of each
society. Thus, a great number of talented
young people, knowing that
the country does not care about
them, more often are trying to make
their only choice for solving their
existence. A one-way ticket to a foreign
country.
