What a phenomenon! After only
two years of the Agreement it seems
that many years have passed. In fact, we
are looking at five hundred and some
odd days, and when we reflect a little
bit, sober up, see through the mist of the
intensive everyday life, we realize
defeated that we are more tired, poorer,
and more desperate! On the eve of the
"little jubilee of the agreement," one of
the United Nations agencies informed
us that one third of the population in the
Republic of Macedonia is "on the
verge" of poverty, and as for the region,
we are the poorest! If one third of the
population is below the line of poverty,
that means that a decent number of citizens
has joined them, therefore, when
you open your eyes in the morning,
regardless of the enthusiastic voices of,
that can be imagined in the Balkan laboratories
for Balkan primitivism, we
were ready and we wanted peace to
happen, we even had energy while
bringing peace to put an astonishing
amount of wisdom, a sound realism, an
atypical sobriety for Balkan people in a
Balkan pub. And? No sooner did we
reach the agreement that we asked ourselves:
what now?
Just as a reminder: we expected a
lot from that Agreement, even what was
not stated therein and what was not hidden
potential. Namely we all knew, perhaps
it was already stated somewhere,
that this agreement was only bringing
those to the table who in the past tenodd
years, together with their criminal
associates, tarnished this country and
made it look like a slut, where all sorts
of Ljubes, Thachis, Ljubchos, Brankos
could even organize a war or, not to be
exploring all the good sides of the
Agreement, we polished our languages,
cleaned and refreshed the vocabulary in
various venting conferences, round
tables, workshops. We washed ourselves
clean from all the dirt we took
part in, partly afraid, instructed and a bit
blinded, from what happened in our
garden-a war-we took the road we all
knew (although we are smart, the foreigners
prepared a roadmap for us), the
path towards the remedial exam, the
path of our last chance! That is the bitterness
of everyone caught red-handed,
caught in ignorance, which is sweetened
by little, intimate, hidden explanations
and assumptions such as "what
would have happened if I did (not) do
this or that?" And then we knew, as
even now we know, that one of the best
scholars of manipulation, the mastermind
of manipulation Xhaferi, knows

However, that wasn't the plan nor
did we expect something like that to
happen. In all honesty, two years ago
our visions were different, more precisely
we had a different horizon in
view-the war horizon. Then in the fury
of war, an exceptionally dirty, instructed,
directed and modeled one, in a way
too harsh, let someone organize it! We
believed that the time had come to "pull
the rug out from under" the one and
only and extremely compromised political
elite, though divided among various
political parties, which we elect out
of lack of courage or sheer ignorance,
we will steal the topics (stealing, lying,
selfishness, servility, etc) and we will
provide a new topic-and we won't care
at all! And so things went, for a short
time. The autumn of 2001 was spent in
best that:
Albanians believed that too little
has been gained, in comparison with
what could have been gained!
Macedonians believed that they
were exposed to humiliation since they
were bereft of what they didn't want to
give, or would have given but somewhat
later!

frustrating autumn of 2001, the
