Plastic surgery
Intraoperative TAPB reduces postoperative analgesic
consumption in patients undergoing body contouring
abdominoplasty with flank liposuction (Araco 2010, Araco 2010
(2)). After the flap resection, the fibers of the EOM and IOM are
separated until the TAM is visualized and local anesthetic is
injected bilaterally. Similarly, patients receiving a combination
of intercostal, iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal and pararectus blocks
for abdominoplasty, showed successful long-term relief of pain
and a significantly reduced recovery time, allowing the patient
to return to normal activities and work much sooner (Feng
2010).
