region at least 14–15 times be<strong>for</strong>e per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>the</strong> block using<br />
<strong>the</strong> muscle planes as an endpoint (Ford 2009). Importantly, <strong>the</strong><br />
block should be per<strong>for</strong>med above <strong>the</strong> ASIS. In conclusion, since a<br />
lower local anes<strong>the</strong>tic volume is required <strong>for</strong> IIB at <strong>the</strong> ASIS<br />
level, selective block of <strong>the</strong>se nerves instead of classical TAPB is<br />
advised (Figure 4.4).<br />
