Total intravenous anesthesia<br />

Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is a technique whereby the goals of general anesthesia<br />

are attained with the use of intravenous agents alone, usually by continuous infusion. Propofol<br />

and remifentanil are commonly-used during TIVA.<br />

<strong>The</strong> patient would be ventilated with air and oxygen, but no inhalational agents.<br />
