Intubation<br />

Endotracheal intubation is the process in which a breathing tube is placed through the larynx<br />

into the trachea. Intubation can be achieved through a variety of techniques. It is usually<br />

performed to achieve one or more of the following goals:<br />

a) maintain airway patency<br />

b) protect the airway from aspiration<br />

c) facilitate the delivery of mechanical ventilation<br />
