Bag mask ventilation
Bag mask ventilation involves providing positive pressure ventilation to the patient through
the application of a mask over the face and by manually squeezing the bag that is connected
to the anesthetic circuit.
It is performed during induction of anesthesia, after the patient becomes apneic and before a
definitive airway is achieved through intubation or the insertion of an LMA.
Aspiration and airway obstruction are risks during bag mask ventilation.
