Antisialagogue<br />

An antisialogogue is a drug which reduces airway (including oral) secretions. An antisialagogue<br />

is often administered prior to awake intubation.<br />

Salivation is an effect of the vagus nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system. Accordingly,<br />

the most commonly-used antisialagogues are anticholinergic agents.<br />
