DIVISION TEN – SCREENING AND LANDSCAPING<br />

Feature shrubs and / or trees shall be planted to highlight<br />

building features which shall be provided from nursery<br />

stock suitable for high-elevation climate or through<br />

transplanting.<br />

Screening shall be provided for solid waste and recycling<br />

bins as well as for similar facilities.<br />

Areas for summer annuals shall be indicated.<br />

Walking paths constructed <strong>of</strong> suitable materials consistent<br />

with adjacent parcels shall be identified to access principle<br />

buildings and to provide linkages to adjacent parcels as<br />

may be appropriate.<br />

(5) Landscaping for parcels in the Neighbourhood Commercial zone shall be<br />

provided with summer landscaping as outlined in Section 1002(4)(b) <strong>of</strong> this<br />

bylaw.<br />

1003. Residential Landscaping<br />

(1) Pursuant to Sections 909, 919.1 and 920 <strong>of</strong> the “Local Government Act”<br />

and in consideration <strong>of</strong> Development Permit policies in Section J.3 <strong>of</strong> the<br />

“<strong>Silver</strong> <strong>Star</strong> Official Community Plan”, landscaping shall be provided for all<br />

parcels within a Residential zone.<br />

(2) Parcels with single and duplex dwellings in the Residential zones shall be<br />

provided with landscaping characterized as follows:<br />

Existing trees and shrubs should be retained where possible and<br />

practical.<br />

Landscaping and reclamation should consider the threat <strong>of</strong> wildfire.<br />

Except areas for trees and shrubs, any disturbed areas shall be<br />

planted in grass suitable for high-elevation climate.<br />

Feature shrubs and / or trees should be planted to highlight building<br />

features which shall be provided from nursery stock suitable for highelevation<br />

climate or through transplanting.<br />

(3) Parcels with a townhouse complex(es) or apartment building(s) shall be<br />

provided with summer landscaping as outlined in Section 1002(4)(b) <strong>of</strong> this<br />

bylaw.<br />

1004. Other Areas Landscaping<br />

(1) Parcels in the Service Utility zone shall be provided with landscaping<br />

characterized as follows:<br />
