DIVISION NINE – REGULATION OF SIGNS<br />

(5) The size <strong>of</strong> a sign not specifically identified in this Division shall not be<br />
greater than 1.0 m².<br />
906. Height <strong>of</strong> Signs<br />
(1) The maximum height for a free standing sign in Residential zones shall not<br />
exceed 3.0 m.<br />
(2) The maximum height for a free standing sign in Commercial, Special Use<br />
and Comprehensive Development zones shall not exceed 6.0 m.<br />
907. Copy Area<br />
(1) The copy area shall not be greater than 45% <strong>of</strong> the sign area.<br />
(2) Double-sided signs or v-shaped signs (to a maximum <strong>of</strong> 60°) need only<br />
consider one face in determining the maximum sign copy area.<br />
908. Illumination <strong>of</strong> Signs<br />
(1) Internal and external illumination <strong>of</strong> signs shall be permitted in Commercial<br />
and Comprehensive Development zones except that real estate and<br />
political signs shall not be illuminated.<br />
(2) Signs on parcels not within Commercial and Comprehensive Development<br />
zones shall not be illuminated.<br />
909. Number <strong>of</strong> Signs and Setback Requirements<br />
(1) Number <strong>of</strong> Signs. There shall be no more than one sign on a parcel in a<br />
Residential zone and the number <strong>of</strong> signs in all other zones shall not be<br />
restricted.<br />
(2) Sign Setbacks. The setback <strong>of</strong> a free standing sign from all property lines<br />
shall not be less than 1.0 m except as may be required by the Ministry <strong>of</strong><br />
Transportation.<br />
