DAV FALL CLASSIC RULES & REGULATIONS<br />

DRIVERS SAFETY EQUIPMENT<br />

• All drivers must wear a fire retardant (SFI) racing suit that is in good condition.<br />

• Fire retardant (SFI) racing gloves are required.<br />

• Helmets (SA) Snell 95 or better are required in good condition.<br />

• Seat belts: It is mandatory to use a racing harness and the use of an aluminum racing seat is highly recommended.<br />

• A driver’s side window net must be used and securely fastened into the window area.<br />

PURE STOCK RULES<br />

NOTICE: The term “<strong>stock</strong>” includes all after-market products and applies to all components for this division. Stock components must<br />

conform to original equipment manufacturers specifications and original cars make and model. No alterations from <strong>stock</strong> components<br />

unless provided specifically for in the <strong>rules</strong>.<br />

1. Cars can be 1978 to 1994 V6 or V8 American made street hardtops Rear Wheel Drive Only. No old street <strong>stock</strong> race cars please.<br />

No weight of any type maybe added to any car. No exceptions! Non-eligible vehicles: Trucks, Wagons, convertibles, Mustangs, Mid<br />

or Rear engine cars and two seated sports cars. Body must remain <strong>stock</strong> to make and model used. Doors must be bolted or welded<br />

shut. All exterior moldings must be removed. No cutting of fenders allowed, front inner fender wells may be removed. No body parts<br />

may be gutted or skinned except both front doors NO EXCEPTIONS. Body mounts must remain or replaced with same height spacers<br />

keeping body off chassis. All cars MUST have original bumpers firmly mounted and have chains connecting bumper to chassis at<br />

each end. After-market plastic noise pieces are allowed matching body with only <strong>stock</strong> factory bumpers being used.<br />

2. All glass and upholstery must be removed. Full windshield must remain or be replaced with 1/8” Lexan or 1/4” Plexiglas. The only<br />

area that can been gutted is both front doors. Mirror rule: Only one (1) mirror permitted on left side of driver towards door, mirror may<br />

not extend outside of body. Maximum size is 4” (inch) diameter. Mirror must be close to top of door ledge.<br />

3. Original tanks CANNOT be used. An approved fuel cell (22 gals Maximum) is mandatory. Fuel cells 17 gals or more must be<br />

encased in an approved steel container of 22-gauge steel. Fuel cell must be securely mounted in trunk and centered. A (steel) sheet<br />

metal wall separating trunk and drivers compartment. Fuel lines must travel under the car ONLY.<br />

4. Rollover bars are Mandatory. Roll bars must be used constructed with seamless or electric welded seam tubing. Minimum<br />

dimensions 1-3/4” x .095” thickness. No bars may travel to front on car or to rear trunk area.<br />

5. Engines must remain <strong>stock</strong> to make, model of car used. All rebuilding must retain all <strong>stock</strong> specifications with original or<br />

equivalent parts. GM engines may be used in Pontiac and Oldsmobile cars. Maximum engine size per manufacturer: GM – 350; Ford<br />

– 351; Chrysler –360. Camshaft rule in affect; Camshaft gross valve lift divided by <strong>stock</strong> rocker arm ratio. Maximum GM .420 :<br />

FORD .465 : Mopar .460<br />

All engines, maximum compression 9.5 to 1. (9.7 will be considered Illegal) After-market valve covers with breathers permitted.<br />

6. Carburetor & Intakes; Only <strong>stock</strong> cast Iron 2 bbl intakes permitted. No marine or high rise. Stock fuel injection may be used.<br />

Eligible carburetors per manufacturer: GM – 2 bbl Rochester: Ford – Motorcraft 2 bbl: Chrysler – Carter 2 bbl. No spacers. No<br />

modifications. Air cleaners must stay under hood. If electric fuel pump is used safety shut off wired to oil pressure switch<br />

mandatory.<br />

7. Ignition systems must remain <strong>stock</strong>. Modules must remain <strong>stock</strong> type.<br />

8. Transmissions/Clutches/Flywheels must remain <strong>stock</strong> for make and model of car used. No modifications permitted. No GM<br />

powerglides.<br />

9. Rear ends must remain <strong>stock</strong> for make model and year. No independent rear ends. Differential MUST remain open and one wheel<br />

must be freewheeling. Maximum gear ratio is 3.08. Drive shaft must remain <strong>stock</strong> and painted white. Two steel driveshaft hoops<br />

required.


10. Exhaust manifolds must be <strong>stock</strong> to make and model of car. No center dump manifolds. No modifications permitted to<br />

manifolds. Exhaust must extend past driver. Mufflers must be used.<br />

11. Radiator may be changed with other makes. Only water may be used as coolant. An over flow tank must be used located under<br />

hood.<br />

12. Suspension and replacement parts must remain <strong>stock</strong> to make, model and year. Front camber can be changed to gain maximum<br />

allowed using <strong>stock</strong> factory adjustments. Strut cars may change strut mounting bolts on spindle and lengthen adjustment slots at top<br />

of strut tower.<br />

No other modifications will be permitted. Coil springs must have the same diameter wire size from left to right. No coil spring<br />

adjusters or shims, springs must fit in <strong>stock</strong> locations. Rear coil springs must have at least one side with pig tail end. Upper & lower<br />

trailing arms may be replaced with aftermarket equivalent parts. Leaf springs cars must use the same number of leafs per side, length<br />

maybe different. Only <strong>stock</strong> unaltered shackles may be used. Sway bar must be <strong>stock</strong> with Maximum diameter 1-1/4 inches, links<br />

may be changed. All cars must have chassis keep 5-1/2 inch ground clearance with driver at all times. Unibody cars will be measured<br />

under sub frames.<br />

Maximum camber rule: The right front wheel may only have a maximum negative camber of 3” (inches) as measured at top<br />

of tire from middle of sidewall. No More!<br />

13. Shocks must be <strong>stock</strong> OEM or after-market replacements. NO racing shocks. Steel only.<br />

14. Brakes must be <strong>stock</strong> to make, model and year and all (4) four wheels must be in working order.<br />

15. Wheels must be STEEL with a maximum width of (7) seven inches. After-market or sport type wheels highly recommended.<br />

Right front wheel must be of this type. Offset of wheels cannot be less than (3) three inches when measured, measurements taken<br />

from back of wheel from inside lip to back of bolt pattern, All four wheels must match. Over size lug nuts are mandatory. Larger<br />

studs are optional.<br />

16. Tires: Any DOT street legal tire, 65 series or higher. Radials tires only. All four tires must be the same size. No racing recaps or<br />

tires designed for racing. Minimum tread wear rating 300 must be marked on tire from manufacture.<br />

The Director of Race Operations and/or the Chief Technical Inspector shall be empowered to permit minor deviations from any of<br />

the specifications or impose any further restrictions that, in his opinion, do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.<br />
