1. INTRODUCTION<br />

1.1 Welcome<br />

Welcome to the Rally Principe <strong>de</strong> Asturias which, in its 48th edition, is the ol<strong>de</strong>st<br />

championship Rally in Spain, and the most acknowledged one.<br />

This prestigious event takes place through the tarmac roads of the Principado <strong>de</strong><br />

Asturias, with its base located at the capital of the region, Oviedo, For the second time,<br />

the Service Park will be in Gijón, with its beautiful beaches and their people’s hospitality.<br />

The landscapes and gastronomy make of Asturias a Natural Paradise and an<br />

unforgettable place where its visitors will want to come back.<br />

There are more than one hundred thousand spectators for Rally Principe <strong>de</strong> Asturias on<br />

the roads, so we make a further effort in terms of security to ensure the smooth<br />

progress of the event.<br />

We hope that this gui<strong>de</strong> will achieve its objective of facilitating your assistance to our<br />

event.<br />

1.2 Summary of the Event<br />

The 2011 edition of the Rally Principe <strong>de</strong> Asturias is, because of its route, one of the<br />

most selective event for the championships it’s elegible for, the <strong>ERC</strong> and the Spanish<br />

Tarmac Championship. This year, the two most important towns in the region, Oviedo<br />

and Gijón, being involved. Whilst the rally HQ will remain the Principe Felipe Auditorium<br />

in Oviedo, technical scrutineering will take place in Oviedo “Palacio <strong>de</strong> los Deportes” and<br />

the service park in Gijonthe three days of the event.<br />

On the 8 th of September, scrutineering and shakedown will take place in Oviedo, to then<br />

proceed to the official start from the heart of Oviedo.<br />

The ServicePark will take place in the SportsPalace in Gijón.<br />
