SAMM Round the Island Warm up Race Sunday

day of the
Sailing Association
Mar Menor’s
Spring Series
was the
Round the Island
Warm up
Race on 18 th
March. The
race took place from the CAR Sailing Centre
at Los Narejos on the Mar Menor. There were
12 boats taking part with wind speeds from
5 to 9 knot. The race started at 12.00 and
was divided into two classes: the cruiser class
and the dingy class. The start was from the
CAR Jetty to the 2 nd buoy round to the port
side and then on to the island going round
anticlockwise and back to the buoy at the CAR
and was run under the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick
handicap system.

First Race of the SAMM Spring Season Sunday

At the First Race of the Spring Series,
SAMM was pleased to welcome a competitor
from Guardamar, Mike Waterfield and his crew
Raymond Leese in their Dufour 24, which is
7.35metres long and over 30 years old.
There were 10 boats taking part with wind
speeds from 5 to 12 knots from the south
west bearing round to south at the end of the
2 nd race. The first race started at 11.45hrs
and the results on corrected times were:-
