Hi, it’s Shannon here and this month I am going to tell you something about our new dog. We have a German Shepherd Cross called Haggis; he is now three years old. Then we got a Pot Bellied Pig, called Simon; he is two years old now. Then, a couple of months ago, Dad said he would like another German Shepherd to keep Haggis company. We got one and called him Stirling .. after the place in Scotland, not the money! Anyway, the three of them get along really, after Haggis, who is smaller, had shown Stirling who the boss was; and they love to play football together! They follow each other around the garden and sit in the shade together. Well, one day Mum let Simon out to play around. He is very big and heavy and stands no nonsense. Stirling must have decided that he didn’t want Simon to be next to him, so he gave him a little nip on his ear! Simon, who is only a pig, bit Stirling back. The first we knew about it all was when we heard the squealing and yelping. We all ran outside to find that Simon had a little scratch on one of his ears, but Sterling had a huge gaping hole in his chest! Mum put Simon back into his run and Dad took Stirling to the vet. The vet said it was just a little bite! It looked worse than that. She gave Stirling some antibiotics to take every day for a week and some cream to rub onto the hole for a week. Stirling doesn’t seem to be at all bothered by all the fuss. He is still the same loveable dog he was before, but I don’t think he likes Simon anymore! Haggis was very protective towards Stirling at the time, but not now! He is healing nicely, although the hole is still visible on his chest. I hope his hair grows over it again and he is back to normal. Mum can’t brush his chest at the moment and he loves that being done. I will keep you up to date with how things progress. In association with Costa Cálida International Radio and www.angloINFO.com Hi, Nathan here. I am going to tell you about our Church barbecue. The Church barbecue was the first one this year because the weather has been getting better. Our friends Arthur and Marge live near someone who had a huge barbecue for sale, so our Church bought it to make cooking all the food for everyone easier. We had to build a new barbecue area in the garden to put it in. It is massive! The new area involved a lot of bricks and cement which we had to help move. Dad and Mum did all the measuring and planning and fitting. Dad called me over to help and as he bent over to pick up a block, the plans fell out of his pocket and blew away. I said I would go and catch them, but Dad said it was not a problem as he could remember what to do! Page 80 Connor here with more news about my life. I’m going to tell you about my visit to Brian and Mo’s house while Mum, Dad, Shannon and Nathan were at a prayer meeting at Church. The prayer time started at 2.00pm, so I went to Brian and Mo’s at 1.30pm. Mo said that Brian wasn’t back from flying his remote controlled airplane, but he wouldn’t be long, so we had a drink and sat down for a chat. It can’t have been more than five minutes when Brian came in. He had his lunch sitting in the sun and then he said we would do a few jobs together. We began by scraping old varnish off a wooden table with a couple of scrapers. We did that for about half an hour and then Brian said it was ‘Tea break’! Next we had to fix the remote control helicopter. Brian asked me to glue it while he held it in place, so I went to get the glue gun and glued the rear of the helicopter back on. Once we had finished doing the jobs that needed to be done, The day of the barbecue arrived. We went to Church as normal and then everyone came back to our house to cook and eat. The barbecue was a great success and no food was burnt! People brought their own food to cook. Ray, Brian and I played petanque and Brian won. Gary, Shannon, Sara and I played we sat down by the swimming pool and had another drink. We talked about school, annoying pigeons, ducks, racing birds, water parks and motor biking. Then Brian said it was time to get back to work! Mo’s back is not very good, although it does not hurt as much as it did, but she just sat and read a book in the sun. Mum and Dad had said they would pick me up at about 3.45pm and we just finished everything in time. It was good to spend some time on my own with Brian and Mo and we got a lot done. Nathan will be there on his own next week and I am sure he will enjoy himself too. They are fun to be with and I had a great time. putting on our putting green and I think I won that. It was great. Finally all the food was cooked and it was time to eat. We had burgers, sausages, pork, chicken and bread with salad. There was plenty for everyone and we all had enough to eat. The day before, Dad had finished a huge table that was to stand on the decking by the pool, but no one used that! It was a really great day and when everyone had gone, Sara stayed a bit later to play on the Wii with us. That was fun too, but she had to go home in the end to cook tea for James. I am sure everyone enjoyed themselves at the barbecue. All are welcome to the Olive Branch Christian Fellowship at the Community Centre on Camposol B at 10.30am every Sunday morning.
