Remember Your Loved One in The Secret
Garden
Sue Weeding co-founder of Easy Horse Care
Rescue Centre has been asked on numerous
occasions if the Rescue Centre would
remember animal lovers and animals themselves
and now finally Sue is pleased to be
able to offer memorials and wakes amongst
their pretty, calm and serene gardens.
“It would be perfect for animal lovers and our
supporters and it would be a pleasure really
to give something back to our supporters and
to make someone’s final farewell something
personal and meaningful and more of a celebration,”
believes Sue, who says that one of
their volunteers is already planning his own
service at the Rescue Centre in Rojales and
making his wishes known to his family.
The Rescue Centre have a vicar who can
provide a service and all catering can be provided
in the tea garden café to meet everyone’s
own requirements and wishes.
Volunteers from the Easy Horse Care Rescue
Centre pulled off an amazing feat working
non-stop to ensure that it was ‘business
as normal’ for the Quesada charity shop.
As the doors closed at 2pm on Saturday the
army of workers there loaded up their cars
and vans and cleared out the shop and took it
to the new premises now located in Costa Azul
in Quesada, close to the Gama supermarket
and across from Knights Insurance. Their
tireless efforts meant that the shop reopened
at 10am as usual from the new store trading
as if nothing had happened. The owner of the
original shop sold it to Algerian investors giving
the Rescue Centre just 3 week’s notice
to rent a new unit. Manager Tony said, “We
would like to thank everyone who has helped
make this possible and to Jason from Petra
Honig who agreed to cut our rent as we are a
charity; that is very much appreciated.”
signing paperwork confirming the imminent
opening of a new and third charity shop in
Los Montesinos. “People can donate items to
us here at Quesada or the La Siesta store and
they will be distributed between all three now.
We are also able to do house clearances.”
As volunteer and founder of the charity shop
Mo oversaw work in Quesada, she was also
busy in Daya Vieja as the first Easy Horse
Care Carboot and Market was launched.
The market will take place every weekend
thanks to the continued support of the local
Mayor Rafael Pertusa and is paving the way
in forging international working relationships
between Town Halls and local charities. Sue
believes the market can bring nothing but
positive action and relations between the two
and will serve as a way of giving local traders
a new venue to sell their wares and help
Easy Horse Care raise funds, but also, vitally,
bring in new visitors and people to Daya
Vieja, Pitches cost just 5€ and for those interested
contact admin@easyhorsecare.net
or call Mo on 682288304.
Anyone interested in donating items to any
of the charity shops or would like to be a volunteer
or even manager of the soon to open
Los Montesinos store should call Tony on
652897307. Don’t forget to follow the progress
on Facebook, search Easy Horse Care.
It is not just people who can be remembered;
animals can be too. “We have wanted to do a
memorial garden for a long time, ever since
Princess passed away really,” said Sue. Princess
has a special wind chime in what Sue describes
as her ‘secret garden.’ Every time she
hears the chimes it reminds her of the pony
they lost and now she feels others can have
their loss remembered in the secluded little
garden nestled away from the main house
and stables. Reverend Christine has done numerous
animal blessings in the past and is
happy to conduct small services and blessing
at the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre on
a Saturday underneath the pagoda. “It is a
lovely area and is something I think would be
great for children, to educate youngsters and
give them an area to remember their pet,”
adds Sue. “People are able to come to the
Rescue Centre with a photo which they can
have blessed before tying a special ribbon on
the remembrance tree as a lasting tribute.”
All that is asked in return is that a small
donation be made to the charity.
