Saturday 31 March 2012, saw the launch of
the first Helping Hands Charity Shop, in
Aguilas. Approximately 60 supporters came
along on the day to help the team celebrate
with liquid refreshments, a buffet and, of
course, to look for bargains. A total of 300€
was subsequently raised to the delight of the
team.
The Ex Servicemen’s
Association of Mazarrón District
(ESAMD) will be meeting on
9th May 2012 at The Antipodas
Tavern, La Azohia, at 7.30pm

Quality second hand items of all descriptions
kindly donated by supporters throughout
the region will be sold and other services
provided, which will include English free
newspapers, sale of greetings cards and a
Classified Ads board. There will also be a
service, in conjunction with EPS, for those
wishing to purchase items from the UK. The
catalogues of major outlets such as Argos &
Tesco direct will be held within the shop.
Since their initial launch in May of last year,
the Helping Hands team has held many
events including two formulated especially to
help those devastated by the Earthquake in
the beautiful, historic town of Lorca.
“Undoubtedly, one of the primary functions
of our association is to provide financial
assistance where necessary. For this
reason we organize events and fundraisers
throughout the year. Bearing in mind the
current financial climate, our aim is to give
value for money at all times and provide
events that are different and exciting at
a reasonable cost. Helping Hands have
chosen the prestigious Hotel Puerto Juan
Montiel where we receive superb service and
quality as the location for our large events”.
Smaller events have been regularly held at
the Mar y Luna in Terreros, where we have
enjoyed the support of German and our Quiz
Nights alone have raised 1562€ through the
generosity of the regulars participating in the
Raffles.
Helping Hands have a superb schedule of
events for 2012, including a huge Fun Dog
Show scheduled for Sunday May 13 to be
held on the new private Marina of the Hotel
Puerto Juan Montiel. We are hoping that
many people of all nationalities will join us
and bring along their much loved dogs and
enter them into the competitions. There will
be something for every type of dog, pedigree
or non-pedigree with Rosettes and Trophies
to be won. There will also be tombolas,
charity stalls and trade stands, so come and
join us”
