Village Fête in Rio Nalon, Los Alcazares
We raised a staggering 681€ for MABS at
this year’s Village Fête and that was due to
the participation of many of the businesses
on the Rio Nalon. That is nearly double last
year’s about, despite the fact we are still in a
recession. The event was enjoyed by several
hundred spectators throughout the day. This
was despite the police being called by someone.
They had said the music was too loud, so
the police came and ask if we had a licence.
Luckily not only did I have one, but I also had
it with me, so the police thanked us and told
us to carry on.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for
helping with the publicity of this event. Without
the press we would not be able to succeed
in raising the money for the well deserved
charities.

CONGRATULATIONS MATTHEW.
Having just returned from a very special
visit to the UK, we thought we would like to
share the event with your readers. Our son,
Matthew joined the Royal Navy back in September,
to train as an Officer. These were a
wonderful few days and a very proud moment
for us. The 12 th April was Matthew’s Commissioning
Passing Out Parade at Britannia Royal
Naval College, Dartmouth.
The day began
with everyone
who was
passing out,
marching onto
the ground
and being inspected.
They
all had to
stand to attention
for around
one and a half
hours, so it
was fortunate
that the rain
held off until
the last five
minutes! They
all looked very smart in uniform and swords.
There was a ball the following evening, giving
everyone the opportunity to relax, after the
previous stressful day.
Well done Matt!
Matthew is the older brother of Shannon,
Connor and Nathan, the Chatterbox Kids,
who w rite for the Chronicle each month. I
am sure you will read all about our trip from
them.

Diets don’t work! I’ve tried the lot over the
years. I retired to Spain in 2006 & have enjoyed
