Working together to make Camposol

Oh! How we need some rain!
Well; not us of course – we are all here
for the sunshine, but the hundreds of
Oleanders planted along the roadsides are
in desperate need of water and for some
it may be too late. The only way we can
hope to rescue them is to carry water in
containers filled from the tap. If you like
the idea of seeing Camposol in bloom next
year, perhaps you could all do a bit by
remembering to carry a couple of bottles
in the boot of the car on your way to the
shops and stopping to give the plants a
drink as you pass. The weeds don’t need
any water and even seem to defy the
sprayers!
Our thanks go to Andy Brown for the 70
plants that he has donated, and also to the
gentleman on B8 for providing the Yucca
plants that we will be planting out.
Future Projects
The ‘Welcome To Camposol’ sign - we
are hoping to be able to have it erected
before the Fiesta in June, subject to the
necessary licence being granted. The
sign will be built from decorative block
with tiled sign work. It will be positioned
on the corner of the road leading to the
Commercial Centre (opposite the track to
the Garden Centre) and in a manner that
will not obstruct the vision of approaching
vehicles.
Help!! Yet again we have to appeal
for more volunteers. Unfortunately our
numbers have depleted over the past year,
so please – if you are able to help us in
our efforts in any way, we would love to
hear from you. B Sector is the one part
of the urbanisation which is used by just
about everyone on Camposol and we do
welcome the help that we receive from
other groups.
Legal Registration
We are continuing our efforts towards
becoming a Legally Registered Group.
Reps are still needed for B20 and B22.

10€. Enjoy a meal of Bangers and Mash or
a Beef burger at the Golf Club. All proceeds
go to community garden needs.

Monthly Meetings
These are held on the last Tuesday of each
month 16.00-17.00 in Trevi’s. Please give
your support. Join in and discuss how we
can continue to improve our sector. We
need your suggestions.

When this present administration came into
being, along with an affirmation to adopt a
policy of openness, they appealed for collaboration
in dealing with Camposol’s problems,
a request to which we have confirmed
our willingness to comply with on a number
of occasions. However, it has becoming apparent
of late that the Council is taking the
attitude that any form of direct consultation
or exchange of information with the CRA is
both unwelcome and unnecessary.
This has led to a situation whereby information
regarding the actual and intended
progress towards curing the urbanizations
ills has become for the most part, vague
and elusive. There is also within the Council
ranks, at times, an apparent lack of understanding
of both the actualities and even
their own aims, which have done much to
diminish any feelings of confidence there
might have been towards them.
There have been some fundamental disclosures
surrounding circumstances connected
with the movement towards what is hoped
will see the situation whereby the estate is
suitably completed, legalized and adopted.
Among the important details revealed were
both those associated with the source of financing
of the required work and the abandonment
of the policy that required that A
Sector was to be completed before adoption
took place. Whereas we feel that the
awareness of these particular facts should
have, as a matter of course, come about
by way of a council statement or the like,
in fact they only happened to be revealed
after a direct approach to a Councilor by
a CRA Committee member who was concerned
about the lack of progress in the
work
These circumstances have resulted in the
CRA writing to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor
Francisco Garcia and Councilor Jose Gomez
expressing our disappointment and dissatisfaction
with the situation while confirming
our readiness to cooperate in any way we
can.
We have the sad duty in announcing that
committee member Joyce Stewart has regrettably
passed away. Joyce was the longest
serving member of the committee and
held the office of Treasurer for many years.
Her considerable devotion to the cause of
improving the urbanization along with her
historical knowledge of Camposol and its
problems will be greatly missed.
