A Busy Month
November was a busy month for us, mainly
because like many people in the area, we
were affected by the bridge closure on
Camposol, which considerably increased our
travel times and petrol costs. In spite of this,
we managed to collect all of your donations
and we had an excellent month as regards
paying out awards to all our applicants.
One example was a little dog called Nelli,
who having just been to the vets for spaying,
had to return a few days later for surgery
after being savaged by a hunting dog in the
campo and sustaining cuts and bites to her
legs and body.
We also made a donation to La Fortaleza
by paying an amount off their vet’s bills.
La Fortaleza is a relatively new rescue
organisation based near San Javier which
takes animals from all over the region. They
recently rescued twenty galgos, which were
due to be destroyed, from a local farmhouse
and have now managed to re-home most
of them in Germany. As with most rescue
organisations they are desperately short of
money and resources; for example kennels
and fencing, so if you live nearby and can

Can We Help You and Your Pet
Have you provided a home for an animal
from a rescue centre or shelter for a stray
dog or cat? Don’t struggle to pay those vet
bills on your own; get in touch with us. We
are here to help you. We can provide financial
assistance towards the cost of neutering your
new pet and also with those unexpected vet
bills, if funds are available.

Bank on your way into Puerto de Mazarrón.)

Camposol Drop-Off Point
Every Tuesday we are on Camposol B Sector
car park 10am-1pm opposite the petrol
station. We will take any saleable items; you
might not need it, but we can sell it to raise
money to help other people with the medical
expenses for their cats and dogs.

Alamo every Friday up to 12pm

Clearance
If you want to get rid of some clutter, try
our 50/50 scheme. We take anything from a
single large item to full house contents. We
collect the larger items free of charge, display
them in our shop to ensure that you receive
the best possible price for them and forward
your 50% share of the proceeds.

CHRISTMAS - a time to love and a time
to share
Why did the Redeemer remain nine months
in His mother’s womb? Why was he born an
infant and not a perfect man like Adam in
Paradise? The Incarnate Son of God willed
to be conceived and born to Mary, the only
woman ever to be conceived without sin.
The conception of Jesus had to take place
sometime in May, the month of Mary. When
it came near to the birth of Jesus, an Angel
told Joseph that he should set out at once
with Mary for Bethlehem, as it was there
that Jesus was to be born. He was told also
that besides the ass, upon which Mary was
to ride, he was to take with him a little sheass
and they were to let she-ass run free,
and they were to follow her on the path she
would take them.*
The trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem was
a very difficult and a wintery trip as it was
now December and the weather was very
cold, and the Holy Family, Mary and Joseph
had to make many stops. The stops they
made were in search of lodging which
were many and difficult as the proprietors
refused them lodging.
Joseph then went straight into the custom
house, for all newcomers had to present
themselves there and obtain a ticket for
entrance at the city gate. Afterwards,
Mary and Joseph were able to find a cave
suitable to deliver Jesus the following night,
the place where the she-ass led them to.
Many of the local shepherds, roused by the
wonders of this wonderful night, brought
many gifts to Mary and the Child Jesus for
their use. The Holy Family gave many of
these gifts to the poor in the village. Both
the shepherds and Angels sang praises to
Jesus and the Holy Mother, expressing their
Love and Sharing their Joy in the Birth of
our Saviour.
