460_OM_MY09.book Page 252 Wednesday, April 2, 2008 10:32 AM 252 Technical data Auxiliary and parking heater 3 Fuel-driven heater WARNING • Switch off the fuel-driven heater before adding fuel. • Never use the fuel-driven heater in a garage or other confined space. Cars with diesel engine In certain markets, cars with a diesel engine also have an auxiliary heater 3. This auxiliary heater is diesel-driven and starts automatically immediately after the engine is started if the temperature of the engine coolant is lower than 75 °C and the outside temperature below 8 °C. The auxiliary heater helps the engine reach its normal operating temperature more quickly. A parking heater addition is available as an accessory for these cars. This addition allows the heater to also be used as a parking heater. When the parking heater is running, the following symbol is displayed on the main instrument panel: . This symbol does not switch off when the heater is switched off. Parking heater 3, diesel or petrol-driven The start time of the parking heater is controlled with the DIC. See page 253. The climate control system is activated at the same time as the heater. <strong>Manual</strong> setting, see page 90. NB! The parking heater uses part of the battery’s capacity. We therefore recommend that the car is driven for at least the same time as the heater was running in order to recharge the battery. This is particularly important in cold weather when the battery is already under strain. Check the battery state regularly and charge the battery as necessary. Run the parking heater at least once a month, even in the summer. This will prevent the evaporation of the remaining fuel leaving behind deposits, which can later cause running problems. The parking heater has a maximum running time of 30 minutes. If you wish the heater to run for a shorter time, e.g. 15 minutes, set the start time to 15 minutes before the car is to be used. Heating is interrupted automatically once the engine reaches a certain temperature. The heater will not start if there are less than roughly 10 litres of fuel in the tank. When the parking heater is running, the following symbol is displayed on the main instrument panel: . This symbol does not switch off when the heater is switched off. Cars with petrol engines If the car has a parking heater 3 it also acts as an auxiliary heater. This heater starts automatically immediately after the engine is started if the temperature of the engine coolant is lower than 75 °C and the outside temperature below 8 °C. This helps the engine reach its normal operating temperature more quickly. Electric engine heater with 230 V cabin socket 3 The start time of the electric engine heater can be set using the DIC. This requires an accessory kit. We recommend that you contact an authorised <strong>Cadillac</strong> workshop. When the electric engine heater is switched on, any 230 V socket in the cabin is also on. If a timer kit has been fitted as an accessory: The electric engine heater has a maximum running time of approximately 180 minutes. If you wish the heater to run for a shorter time, e.g. 15 minutes, set the start time to 15 minutes before the car is to be used. Heating is

Park Heater 3 and Block Heater 3 If the car has an electric or fuel driven engine heater, the start times are controlled in Settings under the headings Block Heater/Park Heater. Make the settings within 3 minutes after the engine has been switched off and the remote control removed from the ignition switch. During setting the time is extended in increments of 30 seconds, if 3 minutes are exceeded. Otherwise the remote control must be inserted into the ignition switch and turned to the ON position until the text "Checking" disappears. Then the remote control can be turned back, removed and the process restarted. 1Select Settings using the steering wheel buttons or . 2 Hold the SET button depressed until a chime sounds. 3Select Block Heater or Park Heater. 4 Go back/modify using the CLR button. To now start the heater, MANUAL START ( heater is switched off) 1 Press the SET button. 2Select MANUAL START. 3 End by pressing the SET button. Go back/modify using the CLR button. To select the start time, TIMER A, B or C (heater is switched off) 1 Press the SET button. 2Select TIMER A, B or C using the steering wheel buttons. 3 Press the SET button. The heater’s start time can now be adjusted using the steering wheel buttons. Then press the SET button, START and the selected start time is displayed. 4 End by pressing the SET button. Go back/modify using the CLR button. To switch off the heater when it is running 1 Press the SET button. 2Select OFF. 3 End by pressing the SET button.
