460_OM_MY09.book Page 204 Wednesday, April 2, 2008 10:32 AM 204 Car care Fuses WARNING To avert the risk of short circuiting and damage to the car’s electrical system, always observe the following advice: • We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop before modifying or connecting any electrical equipment. Incorrect installation could damage the electrical system. • Never replace a fuse with one having a higher rating than specified, see page 206. The colour of the fuse indicates its amperage. • If the same fuse blows repeatedly, have the car’s electrical system checked at a workshop. We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop. • If a MAXI fuse blows, there is a major fault in the electrical system. Have the car checked at a workshop. We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop. The fuses are housed in three electrical centres: one behind a hatch on the left-hand end of the fascia, one in the engine bay (additional small unit in front of battery on certain variants) and one on the left-hand side of the luggage compartment. There is space for spare fuses in the hatch on the left-hand end of the fascia. Sound fuse/Blown fuse To check if a fuse has blown, first remove it from the panel. If the filament is broken, the fuse has blown.

These are designed to protect the car’s electrical system from being damaged. Each MAXI fuse protects a number of electrical circuits and functions and therefore has a higher rating (amperage) than the standard fuses. No spare MAXI fuses are supplied with the car. NOTICE Electrical centre in end of fascia A special tool for removing fuses is provided on the hatch on the left-hand end of the fascia. Simply push the tool onto the fuse, squeeze and remove the fuse. Some of the fuses and relays fitted are not connected to the car’s electrical system. If a MAXI fuse blows, there is a major fault in the electrical system. Have the car checked at a workshop. We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop.
